One design - two cards, looking differetnly. Cards by @s_shayevich for @altenew.Hi everyone! I was on Altenew blog yesterday sharing two card made utilizing the same design. I like the idea of “one design – two cards” since you can save some time on the “making up the design” part and still get two or more cards looking and feeling differently. It’s kind of the same as mass-producing, but when in mass-producing you usually get cards looking the same, here you can create cards looking rather different (and therefore can serve for different people or occasions). One design, two different cards. Cards by @s_shayevich for @altenew.The main principle of “one design – two cards” is pretty simple. You have a card design on hand (or in your mind) and producing different card just by changing a background. It may sound too simple, but just changing a background means a lot. Furthermore you can add different sentiments and use different color schemes for your initial design. Like here I made almost the same floral parts, but they could differ in color and elements placing.

To make these cards first I stamped almost the same floral designs on two white panels. I was using Beautiful DayDahlia BlossomsSpring Daisy and Peony Bouquet stamps sets using various dye inks from Altenew. This step was a little bit time-consuming, as there was a lot of masking and some of these flowers don’t have a solid bottom layer so I needed to make negative masks as well to add solid color to all flowers. Inking them with sponge daubers after applying negative masks.

I was using my MISTI stamping tool to stamp this design twice, which of course saved me some time. One design, two different cards. Cards by @s_shayevich for @altenew.When I finished with stamping part – I cut out all stamped parts with my scissors and started assembling my cards.

For the first card I took a striped piece of patterned paper, cut a panel from it and adhered to card base that I made out of Neenah Solar White cardstock. I white embossed the sentiment from Beautiful Lady set on the stripped panel and adhered flowers to it.One design, two different cards. Cards by @s_shayevich for @altenew.For the second card I took a Kraft cardstock card base, white embossed the same sentiment on it, adhered floral parts and added some die-cut sequins cut from the same kraft cardstock. One design, two different cards. Cards by @s_shayevich for @altenew.I like making my own sequins from time to time (I’m using this die for it). Even though I have a bazillion of different sequins there is often a case when I don’t have the right color, or shape or size. And making them out of the same cardstock I used for a card is a great option. One design, two different cards. Cards by @s_shayevich for @altenew.I like that these two cards turned out to have quite different look. But the idea and all actions were the same.  Also, as a stamper who struggles with using patterned paper in my cards, I am always happy when able to do it 🙂
