Simon Says Stamp | Christmas Presents Background

Hi friends!

Happy weekend! And happy long weekend for those in US – no matter which version of this controversial holiday you celebrate.  For me personally it’s rather just an additional day off (very convenient I should say  – any additional time that can be spend not working but enjoying the season is good). I’ve been only living in USA for less than 10 years and all my family here are Ukrainians as well, for me many pure American holidays are still foreign.

But Christmas is not one of them 🙂 And no matter what holiday is this weekend – we all are prepping for upcoming more important ones. Today I want to share a bold Christmas card featuring a new background stamp set from the recent Simon Says Stamp Make Merry ReleaseGift Boxes.

I love background stamps  – there are so much wonderful techniques you can do using them. They’re great when you need to make a quick card. But the card I’m sharing today is a bit on a longer side since I decided to color the whole background.

For coloring I was using my COPICs and when I was deciding on the color scheme I decided to go with classic reds and greens. Since all the boxes, ribbons and bows are “touching” each other I wanted to color adjacent elements with different colors. So I chose a couple of shades of red and a couple of greens. And I still was short of one color so colored several boxes with plum-ish color. Which is not exactly classic Chrsitmas color. Also one of my greens are too neon to belong to Christmas family. Together with the purple it may remind Halloween – oops. I wasn’t even sure if I want to leave this card and post it. But then decided to do it. At the end of the I like how it turned out. So let it be not exactly classic Christmas color scheme 🙂

After coloring the background I die cut it with the Wonky Rectangles Die Set and then added white splatters. After that I foam mounted it onto a white card base.

The sentiment I made using stamps from the Stained Glass Greetings Stamp Set and popped it up onto the card.

Lastly I added several Snow Crystals.

This is a great color scheme! I’m so glad you continued with it – doesn’t look Halloween-y at all.
