Hi there!
I’m participating in a project organized by my dear friend Anna – Kill a Collection. I think that the name is self-explanatory. There are 5 stages, in each a project that utilizes one fifth of the collection should be made. Frankly I wanted a lot to take part in it, but was scared that won’t be able to complete it. As to kill one fifth of a collection at a time is a bigger project then a card I usually create. On the other hand.. The chance to finally put in use at least something from my paper stash really appealed to me. So I decided to risk. The collection I’m killing – True Friend from Fancy Pants.
And today I’m showing the results of the first stage and the project for which I chose – my planner decor. As this collection colors speaks fall – so this decor will be seasonal (which means one day I’ll need to create other seasons decor).
The decor includes 7 dividers (one of which is technically a dashboard). Here I made photos of them when finished working with paper. And then I laminated everything. As I know that everything not laminated would be damaged in my planner. Which I always have with me, including everyday tough 3 hours commute.
In addition to dividers I made a couple embellishments. Felt bows clips in colors that match the collection, a couple clips and a magnetic clip using laminated ephemera pack die-cuts
And now showing everything in the planner. Which looks like this with all decor in it
First of all – envelopes from the collection. They’re so incredibly cool that I cannot use them anywhere. Like adhere to a layout or in a notebook. Too cool to waste them like this. And having them in a planner is like ideal way to use them. I can use them as envelopes (store stickers inside) and they decorate my planner. Plus – they stay “safe” still being a separate element.
Next goes a folder from the same collection. I punched hole in it and put it on rings. It serves as an inbox for something that cannot be sticked to the dashboard.
Which is the next element of the decor. All dividers/dashboard I decorated at the front. At the back just patterned paper from the same collection.
The paper clip (a plain white one from Staples) I jazzed up with a sticker. This clip holds all pages between the current month and current week. Usually I have my planner opened on the current day page (or if it’s closed and I’m opening it – most of the times I go to this page). Month layout I visit not so often, so there is no need to have a separate bookmark here. This clip works like a charm.
On the day on a page layout I made a bookmark from a PL card. It’s two-sided. Word NOW made with stickers on one side
and just a motivational card on the other. I cut slits in it so it can be easily moved between layouts.
Craft section, where I plan everything craft related. Here I have the list of upcoming projects, dead-lines, ideas. There are project pages where I plan (if need) bigger projects (like this planner decor :)). I have a lot of tags which needed to use, so found the way to use them like this. Also, as everything is laminated, I can use them in future to make some Sharpie notes.
And online – is for my online content planning. Editorial planner and calendar, stats, blog and IG posts ideas .. you name it!
That is how the magnetic squirrel looks in action
This section is pretty big, so I made several dividers for it. Like posts planning (this bookmark is made from a 4×6 PL card, folded up, the title is made with alphabet stickers). This is a journaling card so it has these lines, which I use to make some posts related notes with my Sharpie.
Design related inserts. I like how sizes of PL cards make them perfect dividers for personal size planner
Next goes health. Which I should have named – attempts to burn this fat lol. Anywho, here I track what I eat, workouts and weight situation.
Shopping. Do you plan your shopping? I’m sure you do! Me too. First – I’m trying to eliminate my expenses. “Not spend October” kind of thing is not what I’m ready for. But at least try to spend less is my goal. So I made up a spending limit and list everything I buy, trying to stay within this limit (of course I don’t speak shelter, bills and food here). When I see everything I buy listed (and see HOW MUCH I already spent – it really motivates lol)
Also here I list everything I need to buy, so isn’t get lost in a store or in a site. This also helps not to buy something that I don’t need (especially when need to make free shipping) and not to forget something that I don’t need like RIGHT NOW (so it isn’t the thing I make a purchase for), but what I need to buy one day.
Next two sections are directory
and data
Next goes a section with no name. Here is something either temporary or misc, so things that cannot make a category, but I have them in my planner.
Dividers for those are just PL cards, beautiful enough so there is no need to decorate them. And the last card – is protecting one, it prevents last pages to be crooked by rings (if you have 6 rings planner you know what I mean).
So here it is – my fall planner decor. And what is more important – the first stage of Kill a Collection project.
Hopefully I’ll be able to finish other stages as well.
Do you decorate your planners? If so – do you like to have seasonal decor?
