Hello friends!
Today’s card is all about looking at your stamps a little differently. Instead of using a wreath as a single focal point, I repeated it to create a soft tone-on-tone background. It’s a simple way to stretch your supplies and get even more versatility from stamps you already own.
To create the background, I first ink blended a white cardstock panel using Tattered Rose Distress Ink, adding more color around the edges while leaving the center lighter to naturally draw the eye toward the sentiment. Once the ink blending was finished, I stamped the wreath repeatedly using Victorian Velvet Distress Oxide Ink.
When building a stamped background like this, I like to begin with the center of the panel and work outward. Starting with the main image in the middle makes it much easier to create a balanced design. If you begin stamping from one edge, you may find yourself running out of room on the opposite side or ending up with awkward gaps that are difficult to fill.
To add a little texture, I wrapped several strands of American Crafts Jute Basics Ribbon around the panel before mounting it onto a white card base with foam adhesive.
The sentiment was white heat embossed onto peach cardstock, die cut, and popped up with additional foam adhesive. A few white crystals finish the design and add just a bit of sparkle without taking away from the soft monochromatic look.
I hope this card inspires you to experiment with your own stamps in new ways. Sometimes using a familiar image as a repeating pattern instead of the focal point can completely change its look and help you get even more from your crafting supplies.
