BUILD-A-GARDEN: TRANQUIL TRAIL
The other day, while doomscrolling Pinterest, I came across a stunning cake in a soft pink and mint color palette. It instantly caught my eye—such an elegant and refreshing combination! I knew I wanted to try this color pairing on a card sometime, and today is that day.
My card features the Build-A-Garden: Tranquil Trail set, brought to life in those same pink and mint tones.
I started with the floral arrangement, which I white heat-embossed before coloring it using the coordinating stencil and Blushberry Bliss and Green Meadows Fresh Dye Inks. Once it was colored, I used the coordinating die to cut it out.
Next, I created the bike image—also white heat-embossed—on Crafty Necessities: Minty Mint Cardstock. I used Green Meadows Fresh Dye Inks and the matching stencil to add color and then die-cut it as well.
For the background, I cut a panel from the same Minty Mint Cardstock and added a tone-on-tone stamped pattern using Sweet Leaf Fresh Dye Ink and the floral image from the set.
To add depth, I blended the same ink around the edges and added some subtle ink splatters.
I foam-mounted the bike onto the background using thin adhesive foam squares and tucked in a couple of small flowers from the floral cluster into its basket—just a little detail that adds charm and continuity.
The main floral piece was popped up with a mix of regular and thin foam squares so it sits nicely above the background and the bike, creating soft dimension.
For the sentiment, I stamped it in Blush Rose Fresh Dye Ink onto white cardstock, die-cut it using the coordinating die, and adhered it to the bike.
To finish everything off, I added Pure White Ink Spray splatters and mounted the entire panel onto a white card base using foam tape.
WALLPAPER BACKGROUND AND PITCHER OF FLOWERS
My second card features several exciting new products from the latest release—each one a joy to work with!
First up is the Stencil Art: Ditsy Flowers Wallpaper Layering Stencil Set. I think this might be my favorite from the release! It makes it super easy (and fun) to create a soft, charming floral background.
Just like the name suggests, I used it to create a wallpaper-style pattern on the top portion of my card. I stuck with the same pink and mint color palette I used in my first card but added brown accents for a bit of extra warmth and contrast.
To build the background, I used Blushberry Bliss, Green Meadows, and Delectable Delights Fresh Dye Inks.
I decided to only stencil the top half of the panel so the background wouldn’t overwhelm the focal point. Luckily, the stencil’s design naturally lends itself to that kind of split treatment, so it worked perfectly.
Next came the focal point—a pitcher filled with flowers. I created the pitcher using the Pitcher Vases Bundle. I started by die-cutting the pitcher from white cardstock, then ran it through my die-cutting machine using the coordinating embossing folder. (As a side note: both the die and embossing folder fit inside the Mini Blossom Die-Cutting Machine, which lives on my desk and handles the bulk of my die-cutting needs—so convenient!)
Once embossed, I colored the pitcher using the matching stencil for some soft shading and detail.
For the florals, I turned to the Creative Cuts: In The Woods Layering Die Set. This set includes a very cool tree stump die that I’m already planning to use on another project, but for this card, I used just the flower elements. The proportions were perfect for tucking into the pitcher. As with the rest of the card, I die-cut the flowers from white cardstock and inked them using the same trio of ink bundles.
When I began assembling the card, I realized the pitcher was getting lost against the busy floral background. To solve that, I used a classic trick—adding a vellum panel behind the pitcher to soften the background without hiding it entirely. I cut the vellum slightly smaller than the background panel so it just muted the area behind the pitcher while letting the rest of the stenciled wallpaper shine.
Also worth noting—I decided to go with a slimmer card size for this one. The panel is around 3.5″ wide (so narrower than a standard A2 card), which felt like a better fit for this design.
For the sentiment, I used a die from the Creative Cuts: In The Woods Layering Die Set, cut from white cardstock and inked in Delectable Delights to tie it in with the rest of the project.
To finish things off, I foam mounted the pitcher onto the vellum panel, then adhered the vellum to the background by hiding a bit of liquid adhesive behind the pitcher. A few Blushberry Bliss Enamel Dots added the final touch of polish.
