Altenew 11th Anniversary Blog Hop Day 1 + Giveaway (over $3,600 in Total Prizes)

Hello and welcome to Altenew 11th Anniversary Blog Hop Day 1!

You probably came from Altenew. If not, you may consider starting from the beginning at Altenew Card Blog and see what other members of Altenew design team and guest designers have created. There are so many beautiful projects from talented designers. Also at each stop, you have a chance to win a prize.

BOLD COLOR PALLETE WITH TOUCH OF SHIMMER

I created a bold thank you card using the recently released Altenew Craft Your Life Project Kit: Arched Foliage.

Having been on the Altenew Design Team for many years now, I wanted to make a card that really reflects the kind of style I often gravitate toward—think bold, non-traditional color palettes paired with a touch of messiness, texture, and layered dimension.

To start, I gold embossed the large leafy image and added color using Cherry Blossom Fresh Dye Inks through the Arched Foliage Stencil from the kit. Once it was all inked up, I used the coordinating die to cut it out.

I also stamped and die cut the bold “thank you” sentiment using the same inks for consistency.

For the background, I began by ink blending a deep teal ombré on a white panel with Galactic Stream Fresh Dye Ink.

To introduce texture, I ran the panel through my machine with the Arched Foliage 3D Embossing Folder, then added a fun mixed-media twist by lightly smearing both Mayan Gold and Galactic Skies Shimmer Relief Pastes across some of the raised areas using a palette knife. It gave the background a gorgeous touch of shine and an artistic feel.

I foam mounted the magenta-colored foliage onto the background using black adhesive foam squares, then layered the sentiment right on top for dimension.

The completed panel was then popped up onto a white card base, and to finish it all off, I added several Satin Gold Pearl Dots for a subtle, elegant touch.
