ELEGANT NAVY AND GOLD TULIP CARD WITH SHIMMER PASTE ACCENTS
I created this bold, monochromatic card using the stunning Build-A-Garden: Through the Tulips Bundle. My inspiration started with the desire to incorporate the gorgeous new Mayan Gold Shimmer Relief Paste, which naturally led me to choose a navy and gold color palette—a timeless and elegant combo that always delivers a sophisticated look.
To begin, I stamped the tulip image from the bundle onto white cardstock using the Navy Fresh Dye Ink, then brought it to life with the coordinating stencil and inks from the Marine Life Fresh Dye Ink Bundle. Once the coloring was complete, I added a luxurious golden outline by heat-embossing the image with Antique Gold Embossing Powder. The element was then die-cut using the matching die from the bundle.
For the background, I created a two-tone effect by blending Navy Fresh Dye Ink heavily on the left side of a white panel while leaving the right side clean and bright. This gradient effect provided a striking backdrop for the tulips.
To add texture and shimmer, I applied the Mayan Gold Shimmer Relief Paste through the Splatter Stencil, letting the golden flecks add visual interest without overpowering the design.
I foam mounted the panel onto a white card base, then popped up the tulip element for dimension. The sentiment—also from the Build-A-Garden: Through the Tulips Bundle—was stamped, die-cut, and added as a finishing touch.
While I often reach for enamel dots or sequins to complete a card, this time I held back. With the gorgeous gold shimmer already dancing across the background, the design felt perfectly complete—bold, balanced, and beautifully regal.
