Altenew Dynamic Die Cutting Blog Hop + Giveaway (CLOSED)

Altenew With Gratitude. Fall card, die-cut inlay. Card by Svitlana Shayevich

Hello and welcome to Altenew Dynamic Die Cutting Blog Hop! Today we’re celebrating Altenew Dies!

You probably came from Laurie Willison  blog. If not – you may consider starting from the beginning at Altenew Card Blog to see how other members of Altenew design team and guest designers rocking die-cutting. Also you on each stop you you have a chance to win a prize.

Die-cutting has a sweet spot in my heart. Don’t get me wrong – I love different techniques. Stamping, embossing, ink blending. But sometimes I feel like not getting out stamps at all and only play with dies.

Also.. I’m a very seasonal person and tend to have a lot of traditions related to different seasons.

Like for example the whole October I watch horror and supernatural movies to be primed for Halloween (keep in mind that I came from the country where we don’t celebrate Halloween and I only celebrate it for 4-5 years). Or for example I don’t like pumpkin taste. When I was growing up I had only a couple of products i couldn’t eat as they were totally non tasty for me. Pumpkin was one of those.
But after coming to US where fall and pumpkins are inseparable I started liking it. Of course when it comes to decor I have dozens of those around my house. And I also do pumpkin baking and cooking.

With that being said – in this season in cardmaking I’m very traditional too and when I’m thinking about a card theme it’s always fall or winter holidays.

So the card I’m sharing today as you may see is a fall one. I decided to kind of invert colors and make leaves white with the very fallish background. The technique I used here is die-cut inlay.

Altenew With Gratitude. Fall card, die-cut inlay. Card by Svitlana Shayevich

First I die-cut several leaves out of a white panel using dies from the With Gratitude Die Set. It’s a set of matching dies for the With Gratitude Stamp Set. But they can be totally used as standalone dies too.
With this technique you first die cut an element you want to be kind of on top. And then die cut the one located right after it. And so on. The same idea as with masking.

I also die-cut a thanks word using a die from the Script Words 2 Die Set.

After that I inked the panel using the Autumn Blaze Dye Ink. After that I added splatters of the Caramel Toffee and Jet Black Ink Sprays.

I trimmed the panel edges to make it of 5×3 3/4 and adhered onto a white card base. And then adhered all elements inside of their negative die-cuts. You can see that some white die-cuts go behind the orange panel – that’s what I was going for. When I was die-cutting them initially I new that I want to create this effect and was placing some dies pretty close to the edge.

Lastly I added several Rain Drops. Those are like round clear drops, but in a shape of a rain drop. Absolutely must have for fall cards 🙂

Loved the white diecut leaves inlaid into the Autumn Blaze panel. Striking combination. Enjoyed your story about fall/ pumpkin/ Halloween. I now live in Virginia after having lived in Florida for many years. Leaves are starting to turn and I want to gather as many brightly colored ones as I can to decorate with.
