Hello friends!
It’s always fun to find ways of using stamps not what they were intended. Today I want to share a card featuring Studio Katia Birthday Lions which I turned into swimmers. This set is filled with adorable and kind of cartoon lions. I already showed one card made using them here, where I used two sitting creatures. There is also one more lion in this set in kind of flying on a balloon posture (I’m assuming this as there is a balloon stamp in this set as well).
But I also thought that it could be fun to see this posture as a swimmer using the breaststroke. One of the reason why I saw this option is the fact that currently the stamping world went crazy about otters. What is the deal with otters, do you know? I mean it’s not a so to speak trivial animal (like cats, dogs, owls and foxes). Which doesn’t mean that they are less adorable. I’m happy that there are so many otter stamps around currently.
But even if you don’t have an otter – you can make one. Like lets say using a flying lion 😉
To make my card I first cut three panels out of Neenah Solar White Cardstock using a dotted rectangle die from Studio Katia Darling Ribbon And Dotted Frames set. Then stamped ” water waves” on them using a balloon string from the same stamp set.
On each panel I stamped waves up to different heights and hand cut two of them using wave impressions as a guide. Making one smaller then another.
I inked both panels using Broken China and Mermaid Lagoon distress inks. And added some texture by spraying with water.
The third panel, which is my card main panel I inked with Tumbled Glass distress ink at the top part, and using Broken China and Mermaid Lagoon for the bottom. I made a quick hand cut mask of waves to mask off the top part. And also added water droplets texture to the bottom part.
The sentiment from Duo Talk set was stamped onto the bottom layer.
The lions were colored using Prismacolor Pencils and fussy cut using scissors. I adhered the main panel onto a white card base, following by adhering wave layers and placing lions in between. I used thick glue dots to adhere all elements, as they’re all colored and I didn’t want white foam squares to be seen through.
Using Stitched Loops Die I die cut the Sun and colored it by inking with Mustard Seed distress ink.
Lastly I added several sequins and called it a card 😉
