Studio Katia February Release. Cards by @s_shayevich

Hello and welcome to the Studio Katia Design Team blog hop! Our newest release has arrived and available for purchase!

Although I like all kind of stamps, floral one always make my heart sing. And when I saw new Studio Katia release I was more than happy to play with them.
Today I will be sharing two cards made using stamps from new release.

SPOTLIGHTED FLOWER

For the first card I went with simple but quite effective design with one emphasized element.

To start off I made a card base out of dark gray cardstock and white embossed flower design onto it using stamps from Together We Bloom set.

Spotlight technique. White embossed floral design and one raised colored element. Card by @s_shayevich

Next I stamped one flower with leaves using light yellow ink onto a Neenah Solar White paper. I stamped it using my MISTI and didn’t unmount the stamp form its lid just then.

The flower was then colored in yellow and leaves in green using COPICs marker. My intention was to have outlines of this flower white embossed, the same as others on the panel. But when it comes to using COPICs with embossed designs you need to be careful. COPICs color embossed areas as well as paper as they work on non porous surfaces.

Also COPICs can react with some embossing powders kind of dissolving them. So I didn’t want to risk and did embossing after coloring.

Once again. First I stamped the flower with light ink using MISTI, left the stamp on the MISTI lid and colored the flower. Stamped the flower at the same spot using Versamark clear embossing ink, poured white embossing powder and heat set it.

After that I hand cut the flower with my scissors.  The sentiment from Thank You So Much set was white embossed onto the panel and the yellow flower was foam mounted over embossed floral design.

Lastly I added several sequins from Blue Slate sequins fusion.

MESSY WATERCOLOR FLOWER

For the next card I used a gorgeous big flower from Thank You So Much set instantly gave me desire to messy watercolor it.

So it was very easy to make. I also for the first time tried Arches Watercolor Paper and was so impressed with the result. This paper is magical. it’s like you don’t have to do anything, it will do everything for you. I don’t have much experience with this paper, but on this point it very impressed by it and understand all raving around it.

I cut a panel out of this paper and clear embossed the flower onto it. Then I added some water with brush and started coloring the flower in wet-on-wet technique using my Zig Kuretake Gansai Tambi Watercolors.  I added a sentiment using Ranger Manganese Blue Archival ink and mounted the panel onto a rustic white card base using a piece of foam to ad volume which I adhered using Tombow Xtreme Permanent Adhesive Tape Runner (this adhesive IS extreme and works nice with such surfaces as foam).

Lastly I added several clear drops from new Clear Round Drops Mix.
