METALLIC WATERCOLOR 14 PAN SET
Any watercolor lovers will love this new product from Altenew. The watercolors are very pigmented, very metallic and so easy to work with.
CARD
I made a fall birthday card using the new watercolor set. One great quality of metallic watercolors is that due to metallic pigment added they’re more visible on non white cardstock than regular watercolor. I wanted to use this quality and chose a non white cardstock for my card. Namely – the Parchment Cardstock I made a front panel for the card out of.
First I gold embossed a leaf design onto the panel using the Leaf Canopy Stamp Set.
Then I colored the leaves using the new Metallic Watercolors. As you may guess this cardstock is not exactly made to be used with water so I tried to keep the amount of water coming to the paper to a minimum. I was adding water to pans to get them going, then was picking up the metallic pigment with a brush and transferring to the paper. There was some small amount of water on a cardstock of course, especially as I made all leaves to colored and I needed the colors to mix. As you can see the cardstock wasn’t ruined by water, there weren’t any ripping and even warping was minimal.
Of course I wouldn’t recommend making a like a huge watercolor wash onto a non watercolor paper. But small object like leaves can totally held it.
After I finished coloring I added splatters of the watercolor.
Then I inked the panel edges with the Espresso Ink. I wanted to add some definition and more interest to the panel doing it. It turned out a bit darker that I anticipated but at the end I liked the result anyways.
I also added some water splatters for additional interest.
The panel then was foam mounted onto a rustic white cards base. To finish off the card I added the sentiment. Which was stamped onto a rustic cardstock and cut out.

Another totally stunning card. I find that when I use watercolor on cardstock it is better if I have heat embossed the areas I want to color.
