Altenew | March 2019 Inspiration Challenge + Video

Hi friends,

As you may know each month Altenew runs an inspirational challenge. This month is my turn to bring in inspiration. The inspiration for this month’s challenge was taken from one photo I took last spring in the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. My husband and I have a tradition to visit it several times during spring to see the magnolia, lilac, cherry blossom flowers, etc. Basically, any blossom we can catch, time and weather permitting. There is a beautiful tulips alley and the picture below was taken there.

When I work with an inspiration, I often not only take the color scheme from it but try to replicate the image as well. You don’t have to do it, of course, it’s just how I like to roll.

I started making the card by blending Frayed Leaf, Forest Glades, and Evergreen Crisp Dye Inks onto a Classic Crest Solar White panel in a gradient (or ombre, if you will) manner.

After that, I die cut the Cube Cover Die out of this panel.

To make the tulips, I used the stamps from the Tulip Stamp Set. I stamped the tulip heads using Coral Berry and Ruby Red Crisp Dye Inks. For the stems and leaves, I used Forest Glades and Evergreen Crisp Dye Inks. After that, I die cut all elements using the coordinating dies.

Next, I adhered the tulips onto the panel.

I stamped the sentiment using a stamp from the Halftone Hearts Stamp Set using the Evergreen Dye Ink. After that, I die cut it using the matching die and popped it onto the panel using black adhesive squares.

Then, I popped the panel onto a green card base using black adhesive squares.

To finish off the card, I added several Snow Crystals.
