BIRTHDAY FISHES

First I made a fun summer shaker card. On my scene a cute whale is dragging balloons with water and fishes to a birthday.

I started my card by die-cutting three balloons shapes into a piece of white cardstock using a die from Studio Katia Kobi The Birthday Bear Die Set. Then I repeated die-cutting from 4 more pieces of white cardstock.

In order to die cut exactly at the same spots I was placing a piece of cardstock that needs to be die cut under the piece that already has balloon shapes cut out, then was inserting a die into it’s negative space and run them all together through my die-cutting machine. Even though this is a water thin die it still can cut through two pieces of cardstock (this doesn’t apply to all die, very intricate dies or cover plates can not cut through two sheets of cardstock). I cut a panel out of Neenah Solar White cardstock and inked it using Distress Inks to create the sky and sea.  And then I also die cut balloon negatives out of it using the same method as before.

Using stamps from Sunny Studio Oceans Of Joy Clear Stamp Set I stamped, colored three fishes and a whale and then fussy cut them using scissors. The sentiment was stamped in the bottom part of the panel.

I adhered a piece of acetate behind the balloon openings of my panel. Grabbed all those pieces of cardstock that I die-cut balloon windows in and glued them all together to build up shaker dimension. Next they were adhered to the back side of the panel, onto the acetate piece.

I placed some Studio Katia Light Blue Metallic Sequins and Icy Clear Seed Beads into each shaker window. I think I already told this, but I found to like a lot using seed beads as shaker fillers.

There are the reasons why. They’re smaller and move better and don’t have static as sequins do (which causes them to stick to an acetate). Since they’re smaller, they’re better suitable for small shaker windows. I like using them as a sole shaker fillers as well as “dilute” sequins with them. For dilution I usually use clear or semi clear beads. In this case I still have color accents from the sequins, bit not too much. And beads add move movement and even help sequins move as well.

Back to the card. I also added a fish in each balloon. I raised them a bit by adhering a thin foam square on the back side, but I didn’t remove the backing paper from the other side foam squares, which raised the fishes but didn’t adhere them.

I quickly inked another piece of cardstock using blue Distress Inks and adhered it onto the back side of the shaker. Next all this construction was adhered onto a white card base. I foam mounted the whale and added several Light Blue Metallic Sequins to accentuate my card.

OCEANS OF JOY

My next card is extremely easy and quick. Especially comparing with the one above. First I stamped several sea pals onto a white cardstock, colored them with my COPICs and hand cut them.

I die-cut a panel out of Neenah Solar White cardstock using a die from Studio Katia Dotted Pattern Sets 1 Die Set. I also inked a piece of white cardstock using blue Distress Inks, added some water droplets using Distress Sprayer and die-cut an oval out of this cardstock using a die from Studio Katia Dotted Ovals Die Set.

Onto the panel I created a simple scene using all prepared elements, stamped the sentiment and foam mounted the panel onto a white card base. Lastly I added several clear droplets.
