Altenew March 2017 Stamp and Dies release. Cards by @s_shayevich

This post is also available in: Russian

Hello and welcome to Altenew March Release Blog Hop II. We are releasing new amazing stamps and dies!

You probably came from Lilith Eeckels blog. If not – you may consider starting from the beginning at Altenew blog and see what other members of Altenew design team and guest designers sharing (and also you have a chance to win a prize).

I created four cards made using new supplies from this release. They all happened to be time consuming, but I had a blast working with new products.

PERENNIAL BEAUTY

For the first card I used Perennial Beauty Stamp Set. Isn’t it amazing?

Altenew Perennial Beauty. Focal element and out of focus background. Card by @s_shayevich

First I took a card base made out of Solar White cardstock and covered in completely by stamping this flower and it’s leaves using Deep IrisLavender FieldsMidnight VioletSoft LilacPure GraphiteIndustrial DiamondSilver Stone and Limestone inks.

There were a lot masking, A LOT. Which is funny as covered with vellum panel the background became kind of very out of focus and not much details are seen through. I could totally not fuss over much masking every single detail lol. But that’s how I usually roll.

Next I stamped another flower and a couple of leaves onto a white cardstock and die cut them using matching dies.

I then cut the mentioned panel out of vellum, white embossed a sentiment onto it and adhered the panel onto the card base. I applied adhesive in that part where I planned to place the flower, so it’s not seen through the vellum.

SPRINGTIME AZALEA. CARD 1

My next card involves a lot of masking as well. I don’t know what is wrong with me ;)) I rare plan to spend my weekend masking flowers and leaves. But often my card ideas require it.

So here the idea was to have a bright floral cluster in the middle and made a white inlaid die cut in the middle. But for white die cut to stand out well I needed to cover the whole area around it with stamping. Which I did using Springtime Azalea set.

Onto a white cardstock panel I stamped the floral cluster onto a white panel using Coral BerryCoral Berry, Ruby Red and  Industrial Diamond inks for flowers and Evergreen, Forest Glades and Frayed Leaf  for leaves.

I also added some shading on several leaves using Artist Markers.

Next I die-cut thanks word out of the panel and adhered in onto a white card base. I also die-cut the same thanks out of white cardstock and inlaid it into its negative space in the panel. Which finished my card, as I didn’t wanted to to add anything else here.

SPRINGTIME AZALEA. CARD 2

Of course after all that work I did for the previous card no way I could just throw the die-cut away. I put so much work in it. besides it happened to be very pretty.

So some of my hard work paid off as I got two cards out of it. And the second card didn’t required much work. I made a card base out of Dark Gray cardstock and stamped dots pattern with Industrial Diamond ink using a stamp from Springtime Azalea set in the right bottom side.

Several thanks were die cut out of the same Dark Gray cardstock and adhered together to make a DIY chipboard. Which I adhered onto the card base over the stamped dots pattern. Lastly I added several silver sequins.

ENGINEERS RULE

Masculine cards can a struggle for many of us. new Engineers Rule stamp set can help with this matter. It’s packed with many technical images that a perfect for a masculine card. For my card using this set I made some kind of clock, showing different activity at day and night. As you can see or read from the sentiment, it’s engineer by day and deadly ninja at night 🙂

Altenew Engineers Rule. Engineer By Day, Ninja By Night. Card by @s_shayevich

I die-cut a circle out of white cardstock and masked off the half of it. Then I inked not masked part using Sapphire ink, let ink dry completely and black embossed ninjas. In fact i wasn’t black embossing them, as black powder I have very messy. Instead I was stamping them using Jet Black ink, immediately covering with clear embossing powder and heat setting them. Next I clear embossed in yellow binary code.

Altenew Engineers Rule. Engineer By Day, Ninja By Night. Card by @s_shayevich

I them masked this part of the circle and stamped engineer images from the set onto another side. Out of Woodgrain White cardstock I die cut a ring which adhered over my “clock”. Which in turn was foam mounted onto a white card base where I stamped the sentiment beforehand. To make the circle look more like clock I added enamel dots in the middle and also where 12, 3,6 and 9 would be.

I hope you liked my ideas of how new Altenew supplies can be used. I’ll be coming tomorrow with three more cards using incredible Rain or Shine set.

Awesome cards – all that time masking definitely paid off. I’m really loving your colour combinations. The purple and grey perennial beauty is definitely beautiful, but I absolutely love your second thanks card the pink against the grey background with the texture from the stamping is stunning. Great design with the engineers set too.

I am in love with all your cards! I love that Thanks card that looks like the Thanks card with the white Thanks except this one looks like the flower colors on the other card. Do you get what I’m saying? Your purple flower card is stunning! Great job with everything!
