Studio Katia • Wicked Halloween Shaker

Hi everyone. Today I’m sharing another Halloween shaker card I made for Studio Katia.I’m still repeating myself, that shaker cards are not very typical for me. Maybe one day, when I have 100 of them under my belt I will stop saying it lol.

I really wanted to make a card using Wicked Sequins Fusion. There are several color combos that work for Halloween, and this one I especially love. It’s so “witchy”, if that word exists, and I like witch theme. This mix is very fun, In addition to sequins this set also has cats and pumpkin pieces.  Perfect for Halloween cards!

On this card I have a witch place, with some potion brewing in the middle. And witch’s pets are having a Halloween party.

To start off I made a background by inking a Neenah Solar White panel with Distress Carved Pumpkin, Wilted Violet and Black Soot inks. Next the background was sprayed with water using Tim Holtz Distress Sprayer to make distress ink move, and water excess was removed with a paper towel.

When the background died out completely – I made a shaker using Stitched Nested Creative Squares die set by cutting a creative square frame from the background and inlaying the shaker into background negative space. For a shaker volume I took a black double-sided foam sheet and I made it double so sequins can move inside easily (as the shaker is inlaid into the background – one piece of foam won’t create enough space for this). I used animals and their accessories from MFT I Knead You and You Make My Tail Wag stamp sets and altered them a bit. I added a hat and cloak for a cat, made him a scary jack-latern-like smile and googly eyes. But I think it looks more like Harry Potter then a scary cat lol. I made a Frankenstein dog and mummies mice and also made yarn rolls into living creatures by adding eyes to them. They all were colored with COPICs.

As a finishing touches I also added several sequins from the same Wicked Sequins Fusion as well as a couple of pumpkins. For the sentiment I stamped BOO twice using a stamp from Spooky Duo Talk stamp set.
