Create a fun and unusual holiday card using Origami Winter set from Studio Katia. Card by @s_shayevich

Hi there. Quickly popping in so share a holiday card I made using Studio Katia Origami Winter stamp set.

The moment I saw this set I knew I wanted to color these origami images in holiday colors.

So I did. Stamped background using stamps from this set onto a Neenah Solar White panel. Memento Tuxedo Black ink was used for stamping, as this ink is COPIC-friendly.Create a fun and unusual holiday card using Origami Winter set from Studio Katia. Card by @s_shayevichNext I colored all images with my COPICs. I choose two shades of green, red and gray to color different parts of origami. And some I left uncolored, in order not to make it too busy.Create a fun and unusual holiday card using Origami Winter set from Studio Katia. Card by @s_shayevichI cut a stitched rectangle out of the panel using die from MFT Blueprints 29. Next I adhered my origami panel to an A2 top folding red card base using adhesive foam squares. I didn’t much volume on a card (like no volume at all) and wanted to add some interest raising it with dimensional adhesive. To finish off my card I added a white embossed sentiment on a stripe of black cardstock and called it a day.Create a fun and unusual holiday card using Origami Winter set from Studio Katia. Card by @s_shayevichThis card is not very typical for me. Too much COPICs coloring, usually I don’t do it. So colorful and design is not mine I should say. I’m glad that somehow I did it. Don’t have many of such in my stash 🙂

And as I mentioned that used a Blueprints die here I want to talk more about it.

I’m sure you’re aware of MFT Blueprint series. These are die sets, that have different designs that you usually find in different sets.  Like a nested stitched rectangles set, to get a stitched panel die (and never use smaller rectangles), a set of banners to have a banner and so on. Here you get all most universal and versatile dies in one set. I.e. one stitched panel, a couple of banners, an interesting frame etc. My favorite blueprints are: Blueprints 24Blueprints 27Blueprints 28Blueprints 29Blueprints 30. FYI – I don’t have all of them, only a couple. The other ones are on my long list. I plan to purchase them with time.

Other companies also have sets made in the same manner. I think they’re brilliant. And save our bucks a bit. Before we needed to buy a set that included 10 dies just to use one lol.

Speaking of versatile dies. I have a lot of them. First of all because I was buying them mainly for this reason  – they’re so versatile, can be used on any card. And they’re stored proudly in my die storage system. And are almost never used hahaha.

That can sound odd since I just babbled about versatility before. Well, I don’t use them not because they’re not, but rather because it’s maybe not very my style to use them. It’s rare comes to my mind – here you can use that frame, or that border etc. But I think that sometimes a card design suffers lacking some touches like these.

To improve this situation I hanged those I want to use often next to my desk. If you follow me on Instagram you probably saw this picture I posted several days ago.  I adhered a magnetic sheet to a clip board (from a Dollar Tree) and placed the dies I want to use more often there. 011Some people DO do it for most used dies. For me it’s rather a reminder that I have them lol. Should say that so far it works, I already used one Blueprints die lol.
