Two cards inspired by ballet

It’s only one day left till the New Year and I couldn’t leave this year without making two card the idea of which was in my head for a while.  And I believe all of you can relate – some ideas just cannot leave you until are realized. Another day I made Rockettes card using Mama Elephant reindeer games.  Rockettes, especially with their Christmas show, can be considered like an iconic event at Christmas in NYC. But for me this holiday season is associated with another shows – The Nutcracker and Swan Lake ballets. So I just HAD TO made these adorable reindeers to play roles in those.

The first is The Nutcracker. For the background I inked and stamped a white cardstock card base. First inked the bottom with Distress Tumbled Glass, masked the bottom with masking tape and inked the top part with Distress Salty Ocean. Next I stamped branches from ME Twinkle Towns using SSS Island Blue ink.  Slightly sprayed it with white spray and added some random snowflakes here and there with my white pen.

Separately stamped two reindeers, hand drew teeth and Nutcracker apparel,  and a skirt for “Clara”. Colored them with COPICs, fussy cut and adhered to the card base. Added some sequins and a sentiment from ME Jolly and Merry stamps set.And the next one is a Swan Lake.  The background here is even simpler.  Bottom – Distress Tumbled Glass, top – Distress Chipped Sapphire,  sprayed with white spray, snowflakes with white pen (even though there is nothing winter in Swan Lake – I still feel it like a winter scene). Added some teared vellum, to add deepness to this scene.  White embossed sentiment, sequins.. And then added role models, who are also altered and colored reindeers from Mama Elephant reindeer games. I tried to create a finale of the ballet on this card. Rothbart is fallen, Siegfried and Odette are dancing their dance of love watching by a group of swans 🙂
