LITTLE SAFARI

I was excited to play with the rather not typical Altenew product – Little Safari Bundle, which includes three adorable African animals, as well as several encouraging sentiments.

To make the background I used the Playful Leaves Bundle. First, I embossed the design into a green panel using the Playful Leaves Embossing Folder and then inked it up through the matching stencil.

To add more deepness to the design I did the second ink blending through the stencil, turning it 90 degrees.

Using the Picture Frame Die Set I die-cut a green frame and several leaves.

Some leaves I die-cut out of a “practice” piece of the background (embossed and inked through the stencil). It made the leaves have texture, which instantly added interest to them.

Other leaves, die-cut out of plain green cardstock, were enhanced by adding shading to them.

I adhered the embossed panel onto a green card base.

Next, I made the lion using the Little Safari Bundle by stamping it in black, coloring using the coloring stencil, and die-cutting using the coordinating die. Additionally, I colored the white die-cut edges with a black watercolor marker as I didn’t want to introduce white die-cut edges to the scene.

The lion was popped up onto the background, followed by foam mounting the die-cut frame onto the card. I used black adhesive foam squares for both the lion and frame, which are almost not visible if you look at a card from the side.

I tucked the leaves under the frame all around its inner edges making them surround the lion.

Lastly, I made a white embossed-on-black sentiment and popped it up onto the card.

GENTLE GIRAFFES

My second card follows the same theme and style as the previous one. In this case, I used the amazing Gentle Giraffes Die Set, including two quite realistic layered die-cut giraffes.

For the background, I used the Playful Leaves Stencil, inking up a green panel through it with the Forest Fern Fresh Dye Ink. I did more intense ink blending towards the panel top, decreasing the intensity towards its bottom. After that, I added green splatters onto the panel.

I made two giraffes die-cutting their layers out of paper from the Summer Afternoon Gradient Cardstock Set as well as Dark Chocolate Cardstock and assembling the animals by stacking and adhering the layers.

The giraffes were glued onto the panel.

I wrapped a green jute twine around the panel, followed by popping up a white-on-black sentiment. After that, the panel was foam mounted onto a Parchment card base using black adhesive foam.

I die-cut several leaves out of green cardstock using dies from the Picture Frame Die Set and adhered them onto the card, finishing it off.

WINTER FLORALS

My last card features the Winter Florals Stamp & Die Bundle and is executed in a bit rustic manner.

I stamped the beautiful poinsettia and holly leaves onto a white cardstock and die-cut them using the matching dies.

To make the sentiment I used the Holiday Script Words Die Set. die-cutting word Believe out of white and red cardstock. I stacked and adhered the die-cuts with a slight shift.

I made the background by embossing a Parchment panel using the Deck Planks 3D Embossing Folder.

The embossed panel was matted with red cardstock and foam mounted onto a white card base. I added brow splatters for additional interest.

Lastly, I adhered all the elements onto the card, which finished it off.
