Papertrey Ink | Slick and Minimalistic Christmas Card

Hi friends!

Quickly popping in today to share a slick holiday card featuring wonderful Papertrey Ink Grand Christmas Sentiments Stamp and Die Sets and sharing one cardstock saving tip.

Slick and Minimalistic Christmas Card. Card by Svitlana Shayevich

This card was relatively quick to make. “Relatively” is quoted because making several die-cuts for the dimensional sentiment did take some time. But after it was done the rest of the card took very little time.

So, as I mentioned above I die-cut the die 5 times out of gray cardstock. Yes, gray, not green. Even though my card is obviously monochromatic green and gold, with no gray color present.

The thing is that for such a large die I didn’t have enough of this particular green cardstock to make so many die-cuts (I wanted to go with this particular green). And to be completely honest even if I had I wouldn’t feel like sparing so much of it just to make layers of the sentiment. I sometimes use a lower quality cardstock for this purpose. I have a lot of such as well and never use it for other elements of a card. But in this case, I didn’t have a lower quality dark green cardstock. So I used a gray one which was actually a high quality and quite expensive one, but I just happened to not like the color and rarely used it on my cards.

So to make the gray die-cuts green I colored them with an ink pad of a similar color to my green cardstock. I just swiped it several times along the surface of each die-cut and it totally did the trick.

And if you ask me how I felt about using such much ink to color the die-cuts my answer will be – totally ok. A dye ink pad goes a LOOOOONG way.

Ok, it was a mouthful related to making 5 green die-cuts lol.

The last die-cut I made out of a dark green cardstock and then I Gold embossed the corresponding sentiment onto it.

Next, I stacked all die-cuts using a liquid adhesive and adhered them onto a dark green panel.

I matted the panel onto a Gold Foil Cardstock panel to a slightly larger size. Which in turn was adhered onto a green card base.

Several Gold Confetti finished off the card.

This card design is not the most fun or festive one. But not all recipients can be a good match for colorful holiday cards with lots of action. I like to have simpler cards in my stash for such case. As a bonus – such cards are quite quick and easy to make as well.

Hope you have a wonderful day!

What an elegant card! I would have used the gray or another card stock color to save that gorgeous green as you did. My favorite color is green and that paper has to be one of the prettiest! Any idea the name of that paper and the source?

Thank you, Linda. This is Pinefeather cardstock from Papertrey Ink. I’ve linked it in the blog post and added it to the supplies list (I’m not very good in linking color cardstock, as some colors I used are discontinued already, and people usually use whatever cardstock they have and like).
