Papertrey Ink | 3 Cat Halloween Cards

Hi friends,

I’m continue sharing several Halloween card ideas. I made these cards for Ink To Paper August Release. They feature fun Scaredy Cat Stamp Set along with several other products from this company.

This working from home (and sitting at home all the time) thing even though doesn’t bother me much as I an an introvert and do well without seeing a bunch of people daily. Not speaking about a joy to NOT be on a nasty subway 3 hrs a day. But I do work more hours and sit more hours comparing to in thee office so by the time I finish my work day all I want to do is get away from my computer and my office chair. Which affect my blogging abilities. Often by the time I’m ready to get back here to work on a blog post or something of such matter it’s too late in a day and I’m simply tired.

As much as I hate subway I was writing a lot of text snippets for my blog posts and social media and now I don’t have this option. I’m trying to develop a new system, not very successful so far. Well at least I’m not sharing Halloween projects in December lol.

ORANGE, WHITE AND BLACK

Halloween is probably the winner when it comes to different color combos that are traditional for this holiday. Of course there is wicked green-violet-orange-black, candy corn orange-yellow-white, luxe black and white. There is a whole world of more grungy or bloody color combinations. Orange-black-white is not a very traditional Halloween color scheme, but in my opinion it makes the cut as well.

I used the Scaredy Cat Stamp Set to stamp the cat in the pumpkin as well as the background. The pumpkin was de cut with the matching die.

The frame is made using the Border Bling: Leaves Die Set. I made some leaves white and some orange to additional interest.

For the sentiment I used the Just Sentiments: Halloween Mini Stamp Set.

NO MASKING STAMPED BACKGROUND

My second card features a stamped cat background which was also made using the Scaredy Cat Stamp Set.

There are several ways to create a stamped background onto a non white “base”, some of them involve masking. One simple non masking way to do so is to stamp onto a non white cardstock with a darker color. Preferable much darker or using analogous colors. So the color you stamp with would totally “eat” the background color. For example in my car I was stamped with black onto an orange. Black would work with any base color obviously. Dark brown or grey would do too. Other than that mostly all analogous colors (the ones which are side by side on a color wheel) should work as well.

So the cats I stamped using black ink onto an orange cardstock panel, The whiskers, noses and eyes were heat embossed (with white and light green embossing powder). I filled the space between the cats with white embossed stars.

For the sentiment I used the Charming Tags 1 Die Set with an embossed sentiment and attached to a black twine which I also used to wrap around the panel.

HALE BALE SCENE

For my last card I used a very cool Hay Bale Die Set along with the Scaredy Cat Stamp and Die Sets.

I used Distress Inks to create the background, with added water and white spray splatters of course.

The bales I made by die cutting out of two shades of yellow cardstock.

The pumpkin cat is stamped with black onto an orange cardstock. Cat face details and TRICK OR TREAT phrase are white embossed.

The sentiment is white embossed onto a black stripe and popped onto the card.
