Hello and welcome to Altenew Paint-A-Flower: Iris & Watercolor Essential Set Release Blog Hop! We’re celebrating the release of the new very beautiful Paint-A-Flower: Iris as well as a new Watercolor Essential Set.

PAINT-A-FLOWER: IRIS

Follow your dreams with these lovely iris blooms.

These unique flowers are composed of magnificent petals wrapped around a dainty stem. This stamp set contains two separate floral stamps featuring iris flowers at various stages of bloom. Color in the images with any coloring medium of your choice. Share your deep emotions with your loved ones by stamping this iris onto your cards.

Irises represent faith, wisdom, hope, courage, royalty, valor, and admiration. They bloom in many colors including blue and purple, white and yellow, pink and orange, brown and red, and sometimes even black.

Blue irises specifically represent hope and faith. The iris takes its name from the Greek word for a rainbow.

Altenew Paint-A-Flower stamp sets are released monthly and celebrate the beauty of a wide variety of flowers! Each stamp set features an outline image of a gorgeous floral arrangement, just waiting to be painted or colored with your favorite medium. There’s no need for you to spend time layering and masking images, as we have designed these sets to allow you to stamp once then color! We can’t wait to see what you create!

CARD

Iris is one of those flowers which for some reason I often see (in my head) represented in gold and metallics. Which is hard to take a photo of, but the real life look was worth it.

So first I heat embossed in Antique Gold two flowers from the set onto a dusty blue panel. Next I colored it using Metallic watercolors. These watercolors I found can be easily used on a non watercolor paper, but on a regular (but thick) cardstock as well. It doesn’t require a lot of water. On contrary – the less water, the ore intense metallic shine you get.

After that I added splatters of gold,  blue and green metallic watercolors onto the panel. Followed by adding the Pure White Ink Spray Splatters on top.

Then I foam mounted the panel onto a white card base. After that I popped up the sentiment and added several Gold Crystals to finish off the card.
