Hello!
Happy International Women Day! In my home country this holiday is heavily celebrated. Back in the day it started as rather political thing, related to feminism and women fighting for their rights. Now I see in USA they try to bring Women’s Day here with the same meaning. In USSR though (when I was born and raised) it somehow transformed into a celebrating femininity and beauty (similar to Mother’s Day here in USA, but for all women of all ages, little girls including). So basically it was about celebrating of opposite to feminism 🙂 USSR has collapsed decades ago but for many of us this day is “girls day” and for men is the day when they HAVE to greet and celebrate all women they know (muahaha).
Anyways, in very non-feminism manner today I want t share a masculine card made using products from the Spellbinders Modern Essentials Collection.
You can watch the collection introduction video here.
I didn’t plan to post a masculine card on Women’s Day, it’s just happened. Plus I personally am not in the camp fighting against men. On contrary I think that we have to protect and support men as women are emotionally much stronger.
Ok, let’s talk about the card. Shall we?
I was using Spellbinders Essential Glimmer Ovals Hot Foil Plates Set to make the background. This set has a bunch of concentric ovals and I used several of them to foil the background using the Glimmer Foil System and Silver Foil. I used a dark gray cardstock to make the panel and then I was using one oval at a time placing it off the panel edge and building up the background. It may look a bit intimidating but beleive me it didn’t take much time. Plus I enjoy foiling so much that it was very fun and on some point I had to tell me stop (before I overworked the background).
Next I made a sentiment strip using the same foil and a plate from the Spellbinders More Sentiments Glimmer Hot Foil Plates Set. After that I popped up the strip onto the panel using black adhesive foam squares and the foam mounted the panel onto a white card base.
Lastly I added several Silver Crystals.
I really really love how this card turned out. Quite stoic and clean. Silver foil match perfectly gray cardstock and make it look a bit velvety.
