Altenew | Valentine’s Card with Contemporary Colors

Hi everyone!

My previous blog post was all pink and red and very unusual for me. I called these cards cheesy and got many sweet comments that they’re not. There also were pink lovers who I’m afraid could think that I was representing pink as something wrong. Let me do one disclaimer. By any means I didn’t want to say anything negative about pink and pink lovers. It’s just happened that this color isn’t my cup of tea. I’m a true blue lover. So creating so many pink projects in a row for me was quite unusual.

Also since I’m not a native speaker I maybe used a wrong word… Is word “cheesy” has a negative meaning? In any case I didn’t mean any color judging.

Today card will put everything on their places – it’s a very typical for me project  lol.  It’s another Valentine card but this time made with contemporary colors. Which for me personally are not so contemporary.  But you know what I mean, right? I believe this design can work for those who love blue or for men for example.

I started by making an A2 card out of Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock. Then I cut a 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ panel out of a patterned paper from the Enchanting Washes 6×6 Paper Pack and adhered it onto the card base.

Next, I die-cut several white roses using dies from the Rose Filament Die Set, which I then adhered onto the card.

I cut the letters for the word LOVE out of a gold glitter paper using dies from the Caps Bold Alphabet Die Set and foam mounted them onto the card.

Lastly, I added several Gold Crystals to accentuate the card.

Now… I have to make a confession. Originally, I planned to have the darker part of the design in the bottom part of the card. But I kind of got carried away deciding where to place flowers so didn’t pay attention to that part. I only realized this when I was EDITING the PHOTOS, lol. But I like how it turned out. So this confession rant was about a fortunate mistake and that sometimes going the opposite direction can give a better result.

Have a wonderful day!
