Hi friends!
Today I want to share three cards made using Altenew New York Stamp Set. You may already saw them on Altenew blog. Recently I really falling behind when it comes to publishing on my blog.
The set in question has one main, so to speak, image of the NYC skyline and many sentiments that go along with it. They can be used in both cardmaking and scrapbooking.
I live in NYC and really love this city, so this set was right up my alley.
CHALKBOARD
For my first card, I went with a chalkboard look. Because, why not? And, also, because I basically use any excuse to make a chalkboard card.
So first I white embossed the main image and the sentiment onto a Jet Black Cardstock. I used my mini MISTI for stamping.
Then I shifted the panel a bit to the top and to the left (by “a bit” I meant literally a hair shift) and stamped both the sentiment and image using a white pigment ink. Next, I took a paper towel, pressed it into the white ink pad and smudged the ink all over the panel.
Then I adhered the black panel onto a bigger red panel, with a slight twist, and then adhered the red one onto a white card base.
Lastly, I adhered a small heart die-cut onto the card.
MARBLE BACKGROUND
For my next card, I grabbed a background I already had on hand. You know, all those stamped images, die-cuts, backgrounds that we make and end up not using in a card they were made for and put aside to “use later”. I store those for years. Recently, I try to use that stash more often. So the background I used for this card was made with Artist Markers Re-inkers using a water-marbling technique. I have a video on my YouTube channel where I show how I made those backgrounds.
First, I took the background and stamped the image onto it using Jet Black Crisp Dye Ink. I was stamping using my mini MISTI and stamped it several times to get a better coverage of the background.
I foam mounted the panel onto a white card base and popped a sentiment stamped with the Ruby Red Crisp Dye Ink onto it.
MULTI COLORED MASKED DESIGN
For my last card, I did a little bit of masking, as I wanted to do multi-color stamping. I simply stamped the image onto a printing paper sheet and roughly cut out the Statue of Liberty and the city skyline (without the bridge) out of it.
Then, again using the MISTI, I first stamped the image using the Mountain Mist Crisp Dye Ink. I did very light stamping as I just wanted to see where to apply masks.
Then I covered the city skyline with its mask and stamped two more times with Mountain Mist Crisp Dye Ink, only inking the statue.
I then removed the mask from the skyline, covered the statue with its mask, and stamped the city with Starlight Crisp Dye Ink.
After that, I covered the city and stamped the bridge using Jet Black Crisp Dye Ink. I removed all the masks and in some areas of the bridge where I didn’t get distinct stamping (as I did very quick rough masks), I colored those areas with the Jet Black Artist Marker.
Next, I masked off the area where the houses are and inked the bottom part with Starlight Crisp Dye Ink to create kind of a body of water.
Lastly, I adhered the panel onto a blue panel of a bigger size, which in turn was adhered onto a white card base. I added a sentiment, stamped on a white strip and added several blue crystals.
I hope you like my cards and like the New York Stamp Set as much as I do. Have a wonderful day!

Wow! Great cards. To me it is a toss up between the chalk board and the pink background. I have only been to NYC once many years ago, but remember my visit like it was yesterday! Your love of your adopted city comes across in your blog posts.
