Hello and welcome toย Altenew July 2018 Stencil Release Blog Hop. We are celebrating the release of new amazing stencils.
You probably came from very talented Justine Hovey. If not – you may consider starting from the beginning atย Altenew Card Blog and see what other members of Altenew design team and guest designers have created. There are so many beautiful projects from talented designers. Also you on each stop you you have a chance to win a prize.
I made for cards using new stencils and featuring different techniques stencils can be used for.
COLORED PASTE
For my first card I used probably my favorite stencil technique – applied embossing paste through it. And I took a step further by coloring the paste with Ink Sprays.
I started by making a panel out of dark green cardstock. Next I secured the Spring Garden Stencil on top of it and applied some embossing paste colored with Forest Glades Ink Spray on the bottom part of it. After that I colored some more embossing paste using Frayed Leaf Ink Spray and applied in on the rest of the panel. I was going for a mild ombre effect to have it a bit more interesting.
The panel was adhered onto a white card base.
I die-cut a circle out of Vellum using a circle die from Halftone Circles Nesting Die Set along with die-cutting letters H and I out of white cardstock using Caps Bold Alpha Die Set. I foam mounted the letters onto the circle which in turn was foam mounted onto the card.
Lastly I added several Snow Crystals.
INK BLENDING
For my next card I used new amazing City Scene Stencil. I really love urban images and this one is right up my alley.
This card was inspired by both Inception and Doctor Strange movies. If you saw one of them you know what I’m talking about. Those scenes where city kind of bending and coming from all sides.. Hard to explain, so here are those scenes
The card itself was very quick and simple to make. I just blended some Lagoon and Emerald Ink through the stencil on the all 4 edges of a white panel. Which then foam mounted onto a white card base.
I stamped a sentiment using Emerald Ink and added several clear liquid droplets to finish off my card.
This design can be replicated using any other color, or combination of different colors. I think it will be fun any way.
MULTI-COLOR INK BLENDING
Loving new unique Aztec Motif Stencil very much. What I like especially about it that it can be used to create different designs.
First I made a panel out of white cardstock. Next I secured the stencil on to of it laying it down on the right edge covering the most part of the panel. Next I blended Starlight, Tide Blue and Firebrick ink through it. I was masking the areas of the stencil I don’t want certain colors to be present at with a painters tape.
There were some space left uninked in the top right corner, so I moved the stencil in that area aligning those dots and triangles to make the design continuous. And I did ink blending there too.ย I did the same for the top, left and bottom edge too.
Next I adhered the panel onto a black panel of a bit bigger size, which in turn was adhered onto a white card base.
I die-cut a word hugs out of Jet Black Cardstock using a die fromย Script Words Die Set and adhered it onto the panel. And I didn’t like how it looked, the sentiment kind of blended with the background. So I toned down the background in that area by placing a piece of vellum under the sentiment.
Lastly I added several Onyx Crystals.
EMBOSSING WITH STENCIL
The last but definitely not least stencil I used for this release is incredible Mega Hydrangea. Very simple card to make (but the hardest to photograph lol).
First I cut a panel out of Moonrock Cardstock.
Next I dry embossed it using theย Mega Hydrangea Stencil. It’s hard to see on photos but in real life it’s very noticeable and gives such an interesting and elegant look.
I added some Jet Blank Ink Spray splatters and foam mounted the panel onto a white card base. Actually on this photo you can see the embossing very well.
Lastly I added a sentiment white embossed onto a black stripe.
