Lesia Zgharda • Space Crocuses and Watercolor Magnolia

Today I want to share two cards made using new Lesia Zgharda spring release stamps.

CROCUSES UNDER THE UNIVERSE SKY

The idea of the first card I had in my mind when just saw new release pictures.

I often struggle with a card idea, but sometimes it can just pop up in my head and I only need to realize it in a card form. Which is not always successful as not all ideas can work in a card form lol. But this time I feel the idea worked well 🙂

I started by stamping crocuses onto a Solar White panel using Antique Linen Distress ink. First I stamped them in the middle, masked using liquid frisket and stamped two more, one on each side. Those I masked as well using liquid frisket.

I created a space sky background using distress inks (Broken China, Salty Ocean, Seedless Preserves and Black Soot), as well as made the ground by applying Black Soot distress ink. Then I removed the frisket layer with pik-up eraser.

I let the distress background dry completely and white embossed Infinite Universe to create a space look. To cover the whole sky with stars, planets and other space elements I embossed it several times. Each time after stamping with clear Versamark ink I poured white embossing powder, using small brush removed powder from those spots I didn’t want it to be (crocuses mostly) and heat set it.

I added some details with white gel pen and white embossed the sentiment in the middle bottom part.

Lastly I adhered the panel onto a white card base.

WATERCOLOR MAGNOLIA

My second card is made using beautiful Magnolia Blossoms stamp set. I just adore Lesia’s botanical designs.

I first stamped onto a watercolor panel using Antique Linen Distress Ink and then watercolored using both Sakura Koi and Kuretake Gansai watercolors (I consider them like one big set and just pick up colors that I need from one or another).

When it comes to watercolor cards I often struggle with a sentiment. I often feel like watercolor look doesn’t always match crisp stamped sentiment. And then I also struggle with ink color to choose..

This time I die cut thanks work out of this panel and simply left it inside. And adhered the panel onto a blue card base.

To be honest, initially I planned to make a DIY chipboard from this die cut. But I really liked how it looked not taken out of the panel. It’s obviously readable and doesn’t conflict with the watercolor panel. I think in future I’ll be using this trick often.
