I created two cards to celebrate this Card Drive.
PARQUET FLOOR
If you follow me for some time you should know a couple of things about me already. I’m a big fan of wood on my card (in any form) and I’m a big fan of realistic designs. And when these two are combined – I’m in heaven.
For my dad card I decided to make an illusion of parquet flooring (or rather a piece of it).
I cut a lot of stripes of the same size out of Cherry Wood Paper (they’re 1/4 x 1″) and adhered them onto a cardstock square in parquet pattern. It was SO.MUCH.FUN, easy and relatively quick.
I cut stamped a hammer using a stamp from Best Dad stamp set and die cut it using matching die. I then colored it with COPICs and foam mounted into a parquet square. Which in turn was foam mounted onto a white card base.
I stamped the sentiment using Espresso ink and also added several small enamel dots (which suppose to play role of nails) onto the parquet square.
This card (with another sentiment of course) can be presented for a handy man as well. Or any man for which it can be appropriate 🙂
MOTHER’S CARD
For Mom’s card I wanted to created something gentle and elegant, but with pop of color. I was using Best Mom Stamp Set and the set of matching dies.
To start off I white embossed the floral image onto a watercolor paper and colored it using Altenew sprays (colors are linked below). Then it was die-cut using matching die.
Onto a white card base I white embossed the same floral design. It’s maybe not very visible on the photo, but it looks gorgeous in real life. Recently, by mistake, I found out that white embossing on white gives such an awesome result. Elegant and a bit lacy. A great way to add something to a background if you feel it misses something but are afraid to overwhelm it.
I also white embossed the sentiment on a piece of watercolor paper and colored it with sprays, to match the flowers. Both the floral branch and sentiment were foam mounted onto the card base and several clear droplets finished off the card.
