Hello and happy mid-week! Even being not a big fun of tropical theme (and everything that is related to summer which I dislike) I still got in love with new Lesia Zgharda using tropical leaves from January release. Making a background by white embossing them and then inking over with green ink added a bit winter look to them.
I’m a winter person and tropical theme is not my cup of tea. But I just fall in love with these leaves (monstera here and here, palm – here, here and here) and had to use them. The card is pretty simple. I used old and classy white resist technique for it.
First onto a white panel I white embossed several different leaves keeping them to the bottom and right. I was embossing by a couple of leaves at a time. As white embossing on white cardstock is not very visible it was easier to control the result. For overlapping sold stamps I didn’t care to mask them off or remove embossing powder from overlapped areas, as they were just melted together.
For outlined images after adding embossing powder I was removing it from overlapped areas, to achieve the look as if they were positioned one behind another.
After that I inked the embossed area with distress inks. Sprinkled some water using my beloved Tim Holtz Distress Sprayer, waited a couple of seconds to let ink move and blotted off with paper towel.
I die cut hello word out of the panel as well as cut several hellos from white cardstock. Adhered all them together to create a DIY chipboard.
Next the panel was adhered onto a white card base and the hello chipboard was inserted into its negative space. I also kept all inside pieces when was cutting hello and inserted them into corresponding spots, achieving continuous design.
Lastly I added several clear droplets which I think match perfectly distress blots.
One of my friends said that this card looks both tropical and freezing. That’s who I am, even tropical cards I made wintery like haha.
