Hello and welcome to Altenew Celebrating Parents Card Drive Blog Hop!

Altenew had released a special collection of 3 new stamp sets (Best Dad, Best Mom and Penned Rose) which would be perfect for creating Mother’s Day and Father’s Day cards. These stamp sets were designed especially for the Celebrating Parents Card Drive and 20% of the profits earned by Father’s Day will be donated.

The goal is to send cards for the elderly that lives in nursing homes or shelters to let them know they’re not forgotten. Please encourage people to check out the Celebrating Parents Card Drive and join this great cause by sending in cards. I made three cards for this drive.The first one is more time consuming. But when it comes to a card being made for mummy – time shouldn’t matter. I can say the more you spend working on a card for your mom, thinking of her and putting all your soul in it – the more exciting the process is. For this card on a watercolor paper panel I stamped a rose from the new Penned Rose stamps set in Grapevine ink (I did a second generation stamping as didn’t want outlines to be too pronounced) and colored it with my Sakura Koi Watercolors. Cannot say that I’m happy with the result, watercoloring of roses is the hardest for me. That’s where a spent hours coloring it.

Next I second generation stamped leaves from the same set using Evergreen ink and also colored them.  Added some watercolor droplets, the sentiment from the same set stamped using  Dark Chocolate ink and adhered my panel to a red card base.

The second card is much easier and quicker to make. I stamped the flower from Beautiful Lady set using Dark Chocolate ink on a kraft card base. Next – stamped the same flower on two vellum panels (a half of inch shorter then the card base) in different spots (used Grapevine and Evergreen inks). Stamped a sentiment from new stamps set in Dark Chocolate ink.I adhered vellum panel to the card base on the top part, so the bottom part stays loose.Then tied a twine and added some wooden dots.The very last moment I realized that didn’t make a card for a dad. Who is as much important as a mom is. So I quickly made a father card.

Used a rhombus stamp from Simple Shapes set to create a simple design on a Pale Gray cardstock panel as well as on a white tag (stamped in Evening Gray on the tag and Simple Shapes on the panel). I screw up a bit creating the bottom right pattern so cut it out, turn over and adhered to a white card base. The rest of the panel I adhered with a fun foam in between the panel and card base. The tag was foam mounted as well. Finally I added enamel dots, ties a twine on the tag and adhered a stripe of dark blue cardstock with white embossed sentiment (which is from Beautiful Lady set).Hope you like my card and hope you consider participating in the Celebrating Parents Card Drive. That is a great cause and your cards can definitely bring joy to seniors who who are in nursing homes or shelters. They did so much for following generations and should not be forgotten.
