Hi there!
I’m taking Background Check OCC so this week will show cards made in the class. I didn’t do all shown techniques. Not that I didn’t liked them. Teachers just as usual showed a lot and I didn’t have enough time to try all of them.
Today I’m showing a baby card with a background made in ink smooching technique. This technique promises more control when applying ink. In comparison with wrinkle-free technique lets say. Well .. I’m practicing the wrinkle-free one for years and yet I had one piece ruined. With ink smooching I ruined a half of Tim’s watercolor paper pad before I got something and I so-so like. So control wise for me personal it’s not much easier. But the technique itself is fun anyway. After making the background I sprinkled it with my new and beloved distress sprayer, gave distresses some time to react and picked them up with a paper towel, water droplets “bleached out” distress giving me softer and more interesting background. A piece of advice by the way, if you made a background using distress inks and not really satisfied with it – try adding water droplets to it, this can save almost any failed background.
After everything dried out – I white embossed some stamps from Mama Elephant Nursery Decor stamps set. Then inside of embossed images I added water with a brush, again gave it some time and picked up with a paper towel. This made the background even softer and lighter inside and made images to stand out more. And a sentiment and a couple of sequins to finish the card.
So here is my card for today. Stay tuned – I’ll show more later this week 🙂
Thank you for stopping by!
