Hello crafty friends!
Today I’m sharing a tropical-inspired card featuring a bright sunset background and bold black silhouettes. I wanted to create a colorful sunset scene and contrast it with black die-cut elements to give the card the look of a tropical evening.
I started by creating the background using the Papertrey Ink Better At The Beach Stamp Set. The water and sun were stamped first, and then I used ink blending to create the colorful sunset sky and add more color to the water. A few water splatters added a little extra texture to the background.
Once the background was finished, I die cut the tropical frame using the Papertrey Ink Cover Plate: Tropical Die and the flamingos with the Papertrey Ink Feathered Friends 12 Die. I die cut all of the silhouette elements from black cardstock so they would really stand out against the bright background and complete the tropical night scene.
To finish the card, I heat embossed the sentiment in white on black cardstock to coordinate with the die-cut silhouettes.
