Hello, friends! Today I’d like to share a bright floral thank you card that combines something very familiar to me with something a little unusual.
The unusual part is definitely the color palette. I don’t often create cards that are this bright, cheerful, and summery. My projects often lean toward vintage or rustic designs, bold combinations featuring dark or deep colors, or seasonal themes such as fall, Halloween, and Christmas. Occasionally, I create something soft and light, but a card this vibrant and sunny is quite unusual for me. That is exactly why I enjoyed making it so much!

BUILDING A SOFT BETTERPRESS BACKGROUND
I started by creating the background using the Spellbinders Daisy Shower Press + Foil Plate And Stencil Bundle By Yana Smakula and the Spellbinders BetterPress Letterpress System. I pressed the floral design onto white cardstock using the very pale Altenew Lemon Ice Fresh Dye Ink from the Altenew Citrus Punch Fresh Dye Ink color family.
I intentionally chose such a light ink because I wanted the pressed lines to remain subtle. Since I was planning to add several bright colors through the coordinating stencils, the pale impression allowed the finished background to stay fresh and airy.

Next, I colored the design using the coordinating layered stencils and Fresh Dye Inks from Altenew. For the greenery, I used Green Opal Fresh Dye Ink from the Jade Dreams Fresh Dye Ink Bundle.
For the pink flowers, I used Pinkalicious and Rubellite Fresh Dye Ink from the Cherry Blossom Fresh Dye Ink Bundle.
The yellow flowers were blended using Fresh Lemon, Maple Yellow, and Honey Drizzle Fresh Dye Ink from the Pocketful Of Sunshine Fresh Dye Ink Bundle.
I love how quickly layered stencils can bring a design to life. In this case, they created a very bright and cheerful floral background while the pale pressed lines added delicate detail.
TURNING THE BACKGROUND INTO THE FOCAL POINT
Once the background was finished, I faced a familiar challenge. I loved the colorful floral design so much that I didn’t want to cover it with another focal image. At the same time, the background was already quite detailed, and adding another decorative element could have made the card feel too busy.
Whenever I run into this situation, I like to use one of my longtime favorite cardmaking techniques: creating dimensional die-cut elements directly from the finished background. This approach adds interest and dimension without actually covering the design.

For this card, I created a bold THNX using the Altenew Caps Bold Alphabet Die Set. I wanted to use large letters, and spelling the entire word “thanks” would not have fit comfortably on the card, so the abbreviation worked perfectly.
I die cut the letters directly from the finished floral panel. I then cut each letter five more times from white cardstock using the Altenew Mini Blossom Die Cutting Machine.
After stacking the white die cuts together, I added the original floral letters on top. I adhered the background panel onto a white card base and placed each dimensional letter back into its matching negative space. The letters remain part of the floral background, but the raised layers make them stand out and turn them into the focal point.
ADDING THE FINISHING DETAILS
To complete the greeting, I added four coordinating gratitude sentiment strips above the dimensional letters using foam adhesive. I enjoy combining several smaller sentiments instead of using only one. Since they all express the same general message, they work together while also adding more visual interest to the card.
Finally, I scattered several Pinkfresh Studio Iridescent Dew Drops around the sentiments. I love the subtle sparkle they add, but most of all, I like how they resemble tiny morning dew drops resting on the flowers.

WATCH THE SHORT
I also created a short video showing this card and the dimensional die-cut letter effect. You can watch it below if you’d like to see the project in motion.
Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope this card inspires you to turn part of your next beautiful background into the focal point instead of covering it up.
