SPRING-INSPIRED LAYERED FLORAL CARD

I used the Creative Cuts: Botanical Waltz Layering Die Set to create the floral focal point for this card.

This die set allows you to create seven different layered florals along with several leaf elements. For this card, I decided to use four of the floral designs and build a soft floral arrangement.

For the color palette, I went with a pink-leaning, softer color combination than I usually use. I created the flowers using a mix of Crafty Necessities Cardstock and Altenew Gradient Cardstock Sets.

For the flowers I used:

• Crafty Necessities: Frosty Pink, Coral Berry and Ruby Red Cardstockfor the red flower
• New Purple Gradient Cardstock Set for the purple flower
• Summer Afternoon Gradient Cardstock Set for the yellow flower
• Coffee Break Gradient Cardstock Set for the brown flower

Each gradient set includes four shades of cardstock. For my flowers I used the three lightest shades from each set to create the layered petals.

For the leaves, I die-cut them from Crafty Necessities: Bamboo Cardstock, which adds a nice fresh green to the arrangement.

For the background panel, I used Crafty Necessities: Dew Drops Cardstock. I added texture by embossing it with the Patchwork Pathways Die Set, which gives the panel a subtle quilted look.

Once the background was ready, I arranged the flowers and leaves toward the top left portion of the panel, allowing the arrangement to flow slightly downward. The idea was to create a floral cluster that appears to hang from the top of the card.

When adhering the elements, I attached some of them flat to the panel and popped up others using thin white adhesive foam squares to keep everything on a similar dimensional level.

For the sentiment, I used a white-embossed greeting on kraft cardstock. I also popped it up with foam adhesive so it sits nicely within the floral arrangement.

To finish the card, I added a few enamel dots as small accents around the floral arrangement. I used dots from the Red Cosmos, Coffee Break, Summer Afternoon Enamel Dots
sets, which coordinate nicely with the colors of the flowers. These little details help tie the color palette together and add a bit of extra texture and interest to the design.

LAYERED CLEMATIS CARD WITH AN ARCHED FRAME

For my second card, I continued using the same color palette as on the previous card, keeping the light teal background along with pink and yellow flowers.

This time I used the Craft-A-Flower: Clematis Die Set to create the floral elements.

For the pink flower, I used Crafty Necessities Cardstock in Frosty Pink, Coral Berry, and Ruby Red, while the yellow flower was created using cardstock from the Summer Afternoon Gradient Cardstock Set. For the leaves, I used Crafty Necessities: Bamboo Cardstock.

After die cutting all of the flower pieces, I added color and dimension to each element before assembly. I ink blended the petals using Coral Berry Fresh Dye Ink for the pink flower and Warm Sunshine Fresh Dye Ink for the yellow one, then shaped them with a Petal Tool to create a more natural, dimensional look.

I used Parrot Fresh Dye Ink to blend the leaves as well, bringing in extra depth and interest.

Once all the pieces were finished, I assembled the flowers by gluing the layers together. This step was very easy thanks to the keyhole system used in this die set, which makes aligning the layers simple and quick.

For the background, I again used Crafty Necessities: Dew Drops Cardstock. I added subtle interest by applying ink through the Circuit Board Stencil using Dew Drops Fresh Dye Ink. Additionally, I inked up the panel edges using the Aqualicious Fresh Dye Ink.

Next, I created an arched window by die cutting the panel using the Nesting Arches Die Set. I adhered a piece of Crafty Necessities: Aqualicious Cardstock behind the opening, which adds another soft layer of color behind the flowers.

Once the background was ready, I arranged and adhered the flowers and leaves onto the panel. I used a mix of thin and regular adhesive foam squares to add dimension and create layered depth.

When attaching the leaves, I adhered the base of each leaf flat to the panel and placed a thin foam square under the tip, slightly lifting it from the background. I like this little detail because it adds extra movement and interest instead of the leaves laying completely flat.

For the sentiment, I used the Scripted Sentiments Die Set. I die cut the shadow layer from Crafty Necessities: Aqualicious Cardstock and the “thank you” word from white cardstock, then glued the layers together and popped the sentiment up with foam adhesive.

To finish the card, I added a few enamel dots from the Sweet Dreams Enamel Dots Set, which coordinate nicely with the color palette and add a final touch of texture.
