RUSTIC VINTAGE FLORAL CARD WITH ROMANTIC ROSES

Vintage card designs always hold a special place in my heart, even though I’ve leaned towards clean and simple styles in recent years.

Sometimes, I love going back to the rustic charm of vintage designs. Today, I’m sharing one of those projects—a vintage floral card made with the beautiful Stencil Art: Romantic Roses.

To start, I focused on the floral elements that would serve as the centerpiece of my card. Using the Blushberry Bliss and Jade Dreams Fresh Dye Inks, I stenciled the roses and leaves onto white cardstock. The stencil design made layering and adding depth effortless.

Once the stenciling was complete, I die-cut the elements with the coordinating dies to create dimensional pieces for my floral cluster.

For the background, I used white cardstock and gave it a worn, vintage look by tearing the vertical edges. This simple technique instantly added a rustic charm.

Next, I blended Mocha Fresh Dye Ink around the panel edges for an aged effect.

To balance the warmth of the mocha tones, I added a touch of Sea Breeze Fresh Dye Ink in the center of the panel.

The floral elements were arranged into a cluster and adhered to the panel, forming a balanced focal point.

I added a sentiment strip, pairing it with Milky Way Gem Sparkles for a subtle shimmer.

To enhance the vintage feel, I splattered Mocha Fresh Dye Ink onto both the background panel and the floral cluster. This gave the card an added layer of texture and visual interest.

Finally, I foam-mounted the finished panel onto a white card base to add dimension and complete the design.

MESSY WATERCOLOR FLOWERING QUINCE CARD

My next card features the new stunning Build-A-Garden: Flowering Quince, which combines beautiful flowers and fruit images for versatile designs.

For this card, I opted for a slightly messy look with a faux watercolor background.

I began by stamping the large floral image from the set onto a white panel using Sand Dunes Fresh Dye Ink. I also stamped it onto a sheet of Masking Paper and cut it out with Fine Blade Scissors. This mask was applied over the floral on the panel to protect it during the background creation.

To create the messy faux watercolor effect, I pressed Frayed Leaf and Fresh Lemon Fresh Dye Inkpads onto my mat, added water, and dipped the panel into the ink puddles multiple times. This added soft layers of color.

Once the panel dried, I removed the mask and stamped the floral again in Espresso Fresh Dye Ink for a sharp, detailed outline.

The floral image was colored using the Build-A-Garden: Flowering Quince Coloring Stencil.  I also stamped and colored a few smaller fruit images, die-cut them, and adhered them to the panel using foam tape for dimension. The Pocketful of Sunshine, Green Fields, and Nature Wonders Fresh Dye Inks were used for coloring.

To finish the background, I added splatters of Frayed Leaf Fresh Dye Ink and foam-mounted the panel onto a white card base.

The sentiment was white-embossed onto Crafty Necessities: Dark Chocolate Cardstock, die-cut with the matching die, and popped up on the card.

Finally, several Satin Gold Pearl Dots were added as a finishing touch.

MESSY WATERCOLOR BACKGROUND & LAYERED FLORAL CARD

I created this card using a similar design idea as the previous one—a messy watercolor background paired with a floral cluster. For the florals, I used the new Craft-A-Flower: Carnation Die Set.

I die-cut all the flower and leaf layers from white cardstock, then blended inks from the Pocketful of Sunshine, Blushberry Bliss, and Green Fields Fresh Dye Ink Bundles to add vibrant colors.

After assembling the pieces, the flowers came to life with beautiful dimension.

For the background, I started with the same messy watercolor technique but wanted to add more interest.

First, I ran the panel through my paper crimper (a nostalgic tool from my early crafting days). While the crimping added texture, it ended up too wonky and dimensional for my liking, especially with the bulky flowers I planned to use.

To fix it, I flattened the panel using my die-cutting machine with some paper shims.

Not ready to give up, I distressed the panel’s vertical edges with a paper distresser, which added just the right amount of character.

Since the crimper was still out, I decided to crimp a slightly larger panel made from Crafty Necessities: Warm Sunshine Cardstock. This attempt worked perfectly, so I used it as a mat for the watercolor panel.

I foam-mounted the two panels together and adhered them to a white card base.

The floral cluster was arranged on top, along with a white-embossed sentiment banner on black cardstock.

To finish the card, I added green ink splatters and Ivory Pearl Dots for a subtle, elegant touch.

VINTAGE MASON JAR AND BUTTERFLIES CARD

I created this card with a similar vintage/rustic vibe as my earlier design. Even if I hadn’t been inspired by my first card, I’d likely have gone in this direction—the stamp set from the Craft Your Life Project Kit: Butterfly Garden features a charming Mason jar, and Mason jars always steer me toward vintage styling.

For the background, I went monochromatic with butterflies, using the Coffee Break Fresh Dye Inks and the Coloring Stencil from the kit on a white panel. To enhance the aged look, I softly blended Sand Dunes Fresh Dye Ink over the panel after coloring the butterflies.

The Mason jar image was stamped in Espresso Fresh Dye Ink on white cardstock.

I then added texture by embossing it with the Butterfly Garden 3D Embossing Folder. After fussy-cutting the jar, I ink-blended Sea Breeze Fresh Dye Ink around the edges to give it a subtle glassy effect.

For embellishments, I created pink butterflies with Blushberry Bliss Fresh Dye Inks, using the kit’s Coloring Stencil and matching dies.

I also stamped and cut out several foliage pieces, blending them with Blushberry Bliss and Jade Dreams Fresh Dye Inks.

To assemble, I foam-mounted the butterfly background onto a white card base, added the Mason jar with foam tape, and tucked the foliage elements behind it.

I popped-up the butterflies as a focal point on the jar.

The sentiment was white-embossed on white cardstock and ink-blended with Mossy Meadow Fresh Dye Ink to match the green tones of the foliage. After fussy-cutting it, I added it to the card.

Finally, a few Ivory Pearl Dots provided a delicate finishing touch.
