Altenew 10th Anniversary Blog Hop Day 1 + Giveaway (over $3,500 in Total Prizes)

MONOCHROMATIC POPPY CARD

For this fun blog hop, I made a card that represents a lot about me and my crafting style. It’s monochromatic (of course, I feel like at least half of the cards I make are mono- or duo-chromatic). It’s floral (floral designs are my all-time favorite to craft with). I used neutral elements as supporting actors (like Parchment cardstock and natural twine), which I frequently favor.

To make the floral background, I used the large floral stamp from the Bouquet of Poppies Stamp Set. It was white embossed onto a green cardstock panel and colored using the matching stencil and inks from the Green Valley Crisp Dye Ink Set.

I also added tiny white and green splatters onto the background for additional interest.

Next, I adhered a strip of darker green cardstock to the bottom part of the panel and trimmed it to 3 3/4 x 5″. I like using this panel size with A2 card base as it created a wider border around the panel. It’s especially beneficial when the panel is used to balance off the panel. I.e. in this case I opted to have a sentiment white embossed on kraft (Parchment) cardstock and the card base of the same cardstock visually accompanies it.

I wrapped Natural String Burlap twine around the panel securing it with a bow and foam-mounted it onto a Parchment card base. Followed by popping up the white-on-kraft sentiment label made using the One-Go Loving Sentiments Bundle.

Green Valley Enamel Dots were added to accentuate the card.
