ALCOHOL MARKERS COLORING OVER INK SMOOSHING
I used the new Firewood Garden Alcohol Markers Set M for the card I’m sharing today. This time, I’ve opted for the Fairy Tale Florals Stamp Set as my preferred floral set.
I wanted to add a background behind it and while I was making the decision on which tool or method to use for the background I remembered an oldies but goodie ink smoothing technique. Which I did using the Mauve and Swamp Green Fresh Die Inks.
I wanted to add mauve colors mostly where the flowers would be and green ones around the leaves. So to know where that would be I first stamped the floral element onto a white panel using very light Limestone Fresh Dye Ink.
Next, I applied the Mauve ink onto a piece of soft plastic, sprinkled it with water, and placed it onto the cardstock several times transferring the ink onto the areas where the flowers were stamped. Then I repeated the same with the Swamp Green ink, placing it onto the leaves.
As far as the plastic goes this technique works better with a soft bendable one. You don’t want to use very rigid which is hard to make “not flat”.
I colored the flowers using the Pink Crystal, Mauve, and Barrylicious Makers, the leaves were colored using the Oak Moss, Swamp Green, and Matcha Tea ones.
After I finished coloring, I white-embossed the floral image outlines.
To add more interest to the background, I splattered Barrylicious and Oak Moss Fresh Dye Inks onto the panel. Which was foam-mounted onto a white card base after that.
I popped up a sentiment strip made using the One-Go Birthday. Enamel dots from the Forest Trail and Dried Petals Sets finished off the card.
