Spellbinders | Cute House-Mouse Love Cards

Hello friends!

Today I’m sharing two cute love-themed/Valentine’s Day cards featuring the most adorable House-Mouse We Heart You Stamp Set from Spellbinders.

I have a sweet spot in my heart for the House-Mouse designs. They were one of the first stamps I used more than a decade ago when I started cardmaking. I used to have pet rats and personally find these animals very cute (and don’t get me started on how smart they are). I would probably continue having them as pets if it wasn’t for their very short lifespan. Losing them so soon is truly heartbreaking.

Even if you’re not fond of actual rats or mice, it’s hard to resist the charming and amusing ones from House-Mouse.

My cards have similar layouts but different designs.

CHALKBOARD CARD

The very first idea was a chalkboard look. To achieve this, I stamped the mice onto black cardstock using white pigment ink.

After that, I colored them with Prismacolor Pencils. And then stamped over the pencil coloring again with white ink to bring up the stamp details.

The chalkboard panel was adhered on a bit larger red one with a subtle tilt.

For additional interest, I wrapped a red baker’s twine around two panels, hooking them at the panel’s opposite corners and securing them with a little bow.

The wrapped double panel was adhered onto a kraft card base also with a slight tilt. Several red enamel dots finished off the card.

NIBBLED CARD

I will be honest, initially, I only planned to create the chalkboard card. But as I was coloring with pencils, which I hadn’t done in a while, I had loads of fun and wanted to try the same coloring on a white cardstock.

The stamping was made using brown ink on a white panel and then the image was colored using the same Prismacolor Pencils.

To add more interest to the panel I “nibbled” it in a couple of places using my Crop-A-Dile for Eyelets. I think it’s a fun detail for a card featuring mice, especially when the image itself already has nibbled elements 🙂

I adhered the white panel onto a stripped patterned paper with a tilt. Followed by adhering both panel onto a kraft card panel.

Several enamel dots were added to accentuate the card.
