Altenew | Adding Impact with Gold Foiled Elements

Happy New Year! I hope it brings you everything you wish for and will be a much better year than the one past.

One inevitable thing after the holidays is to stop making and sharing holiday cards. It’s not a rule of course, throughout many years I would continue making holiday cards in January and even February to use the next year  (which very often was handy in case it’s needed earlier and you hadn’t started your holiday cardmaking yet). It’s not the case this year, I’m ready to move on to the “regular schedule”. But it still feels weird to share “regular” cards 🙂

Anyway, today I want to share a bold birthday card featuring a beautiful hot-foiled Spark Joy: Ornamental Bouquet. Using this bundle, I created the beautiful floral cluster as my focal point element.

The floral outline was hot foiled onto a white cardstock using the Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil System with Enchanted Gold Satin Hot Foil Roll, which then was colored using the coordinating stencil and inks from Wood Warbler and Dried Petals Fresh Dye Ink Bundles. After that, I die-cut it using the add-on die.

The Berrylicious and Acai Berry Fresh Dye Inks were used to create the bold background. Which then was sprinkled with water to add some texture and velvet look.

Having gold foiled floral pretty much required adding other golden elements to the card to balance it off. I used the Antique Gold Thread wrapped around the background before popping up the floral cluster onto it.

Additionally, I added several Satin Gold Sequins as small accents.

The sentiment label was created using the Thank You Builder Stamp Set and also popped up on the card.

I’m really happy with how this card turned out. I like the color combo of Wood Warbler and Dried Petals Fresh Dye Ink Bundles, as well as how gold details work together with these inks.
