Hi everyone,
Today I’m sharing a card featuring the recently released Altenew Craft-A-Flower: Stargazer Lily. Also, I will be sharing some tips and tricks on effortlessly infusing a timeless vintage vibe into your creations.
As usual, I started making my card by creating the elements for the floral focal point using the Craft-A-Flower: Stargazer Lily. I used yellow and pink cardstock to die-cut layering pieces for three different Lily flowers.
To add a slightly aged and shabby appearance to the flowers I distressed the petal edges using a distress tool (you can use and paper of a dull knife to achieve the same effect).
Next, I added shading to the petal bases and a little bit along the edges using Yellow Ochre Dye Ink for yellow flowers and Vineyard Berry Dye Ink for the pink one. After that, I sprayed all the inked elements with water, let the ink move, and blotted them. It added some texture and a more distressed look to the petals.
I assembled the flowers by stacking their layers and adhering them using liquid adhesive.
For a more realistic look, I also added black dots to the flowers using a Black Liner and following the texture created by the dies used to die-cut the petals.
As far as the leaves go, since I was going for a vintage vibe, I opted for a brown cardstock to die-cut the leaves. After die-cutting the leaves I distressed their edges using a distress tool.
As far as the background goes the first and obvious choice for a vintage vibing card was Parchment Cardstock. I made a panel out of this cardstock and tore the bottom edge of it to achieve a distressed look.
Next, using the Tree Ring Stencil and Espresso Dye Ink I ink-blended the tree ring design onto to the panel. Followed by adding some brown splatters to it.
I wrapped red jute twine around the bottom part of the panel and foam-mounted it onto a white card base.
Next, I adhered the Stargazer Lily flowers and leaves onto the card.
To make the sentiment label the One-Go Birthday Greetings Bundle was used. The label popped up onto the card finished it off.
I choose the white card base and white sentiment label to tone down the browns on the card. I did want to add “vintageness” to the card but didn’t want it to be hard-core vintage.
I hope you like my card and the tips I shared today.
Have a wonderful day!
