Colored with Gouache Paint-A-Flower: Magnolia Grandiflora

Hello friends,

Today I want to share a card featuring a very beautiful Paint-A-Flower: Magnolia Grandiflora.

Altenew Paint-A-Flower Stamp Sets can be used for many different techniques, but as the name applies first of all they can be colored. That’s what I did for the card I’m sharing today.

I started making my card by stamping the large floral from the Paint-A-Flower: Magnolia Grandiflora Stamp Set onto a green cardstock panel using white pigment ink. After that, I started coloring it using Artists Gouache: Strolling Through New York.

The beauty of this coloring medium is that it’s opaque. Hence, can be used on non-white cardstock. Which really expands design options. Plus, Altenew Artistry Gouache is extremely good and so easy to work with.

I colored each element (petals, leaves) separately from the ones right next to it. Since the gouache is opaque it covered the white ink stamping, so I wouldn’t see an element outline edge if had another element covered with gouache as well.

First, I was laying down a lighter color onto a whole element. And then, I would add strokes using darker paint in the areas where the element would get shadows.

After I finished coloring the floral element, I also made kind of a gouache wash all around it to make the whole panel look like it was painted, it made it more cohesive in my opinion.

For additional interest, I also added the Pure White Ink Spray splatters.

After that, I foam-mounted the panel onto a white card base using the Instant Dimension Foam Tape.

I made a sentiment label using the One-Go Birthday Greetings Stamp & Die Bundle. It was white embossed into a Jet Black Cardstock and die-cut using the matching die.

Lastly, I added several “off-white” enamel dots from the Warm Gray Enamel Dots.
