WINTER BIRD CARD

I absolutely fell in love with this adorable chunky bird from the Bird of the Woods Stamp Set! Of course, I had to make a winter scene card using it!

As far as the bird kind goes I wen with the bullfinch colors, as they are one of those birds that I associate with winter and this bird “shape” totally works for this bird.

For the background, I choose pink and blue colors. As usual I also added water splatters and white paint splatters onto it for added texture and “falling snow”.

To make the moon I simply masked off a circle in the top left corner of the card. I like reusing masks and this one was used before to make a similar background using dark blue ink. So the mask was saturated with dark blue ink. And then I was blending pink ink ver it  – I dragged that blue ink from the circle mask. My first reaction was – shoot! I thought that I would need to remake the background. But on the second look I realized that I really like how it turned out. It made the scene winterer and colder.

SLIMLINE POINSETTIA CARD

There are never enough Poinsettia stamp sets, never! I always want to have them, no matter how many poinsettias I already own. The new Dry Brush Poinsettia Stamp Set is my new love for this year.

The same as for the card above I opted for the vertical slimline card and I placed 4 poinsettias onto it. I made one poinsettia red and three others – “white with green undertone”. The “white” ones were made by skipping the bottom solid layer.

The sentiment I stamped in red onto white cardstock in red, hand-cut using my scissors, and popped up onto the card. I chose red color for the sentiment to tie it with the red background and red poinsettia.

To add some interest to the card I added some black splatters using my absolutely favorite “black splatters creator“. It’s very black and dries instantly!

WATERCOLOR AUTUMN TREE

I used the Walnut Branch 3D Embossing Folder for my next card. As a vivid fall lover, any product even distantly related to fall has a soft spot in my heart.  

First, I made an abstract watercolor wash on a watercolor panel.  The idea was to make an autumn tree (still not sure I succeeded in it lol). So I made kinda fall foliage of orange and red covering almost the whole panel. Adding some blue sky in the bottom and the left top corner.

Next, I inked the folder with Espresso Ink and embossed the panel with it. When “stamp” using an embossing folder – don’t forget to ink up the raised part of the folder design and use it towards the front side of your cardstock).

I like using jute twine to add interest to my cards and especially I like using it on fall cards. I wrapped an orange twine around the panel and foam mounted it onto a white card base. A sentiment strip popped up onto the card finished it off.

MONOCHROMATIC TULIP FRAME

Altenew is awesome when it comes to flower stamp sets (being Captain Obvious I know lol). There were so many floral stamp sets I played with and I still fall in love with new designs. From this release, I especially like the new Cartoon Tulips Stamp Set.

I made a monochromatic card using this awesome set. Using a pink cardstock as a base I stamped the tulip frame around its edges using the stamp set and simple masking.

I like using color cardstock to stamp on when making monochromatic cards. If I started off a white cardstock I would need to mask off al my stamping to then ink blend on top if I wanted to add pink color to the background. In this case, I only use one mask to mask off small overlapping areas when I stamped tulips.

After stamping was finished I added white and pink splatters, wrapped a twine around the panel and foam mounted it onto a white card base.

A white on black sentiment strip finished off the card.
