Spellbinders | August Glimmer Hot Foil Kit – Watercolor Foiled Floral Card

Hello everyone!

I’m in love with this month’s Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil Kit – Hex Floral. It has two very beautiful floral plates as well as a sentiment and a frame to make a stylish geometrical sentiment.

Beautiful outline floral designs were calling to be colored which I did. I opted for a watercolor as my coloring medium and as far as the coloring itself going I did a very simple messy one, which took very little time.

I used the Cobalt Blue Foil to hot foil the floral design onto a watercolor panel.

When coloring I was first adding a watercolor wash of a certain color for each element, extending it beyond the element outlines. After the first watercolor layer dried I was adding shading using the same color.

For additional interest white splatters were added to the panel. Which then was foam mounted onto a white card base.

The sentiment piece was popped up onto the card.

Several clear droplets finished off the card.

I really like messy-going-beyond-outline watercoloring. It justifies any imperfections in coloring (and white splatters help to hide them as well).

Have a wonderful day!
