Spellbinders | Using Holiday Dies for a Non Holiday Card

Hello friends!

What a summer, huh? I’m counting days till September (which to be honest I’ve been doing since May haha). The weather, nature, holidays – everything gets better starting September. And speaking of holidays. Today I want to share a card that I made using a holiday product, even though the card itself is not holiday at all. The product in question is Spellbinders Merry Stitching – Large Die Of The Month Club. Which is as you can from its name is a Month Club (subscript on) of November 2020, but it’s still can be purchased separately.

So the set has 3 dies of a “lacey” nature – a snowflake, border and Christmas tree. I used the snowflake to create a lacey background. Which I did by die cutting it out of a cream cardstock panel several times. “die cutting” is actually a bit strong word for what I did as the die doesn’t actually die-cuts an element completely out of a cardstock, it rather pierces holes forming a snowflake shape. I made my first “die cut” in the middle of the panel and then made several die cuts around it building the background.

Additionally I made a white border using a die from the same set. I left all pierced pieces inside their negative spaces to make the bolder solid (I taped them at the back so they don’t all out).

Next I wrapped a twine around the border and foam mounted it onto the background. Which in turn was foam mounted onto a white card base.

To finish off the card I made a sentiment strip using the Everyday Sentiments II Glimmer Hot Foil Plate and Glimmer Hot Foil Roll – Silver which then I popped onto the card.

Hope you like card I shared today. The design is quite simple, I put the focus onto the lacey background and used cardstock of two shades of white (so to speak) to bring a bit more interest. Of course the same design can be done in any other color combo. As bold and/or colorful as you wish.

Have a wonderful day! Stay cool!
