Hello everyone!
Even though there are debates if it’s legal to have a Christmas tree before Thanksgiving (in our house it is not) Thanksgiving itself is not cancelled. Today I want to share several projects that may bring you some thanksgiving inspiration. They’re mostly cards, but designs can be applied to other thanksgiving project as well. All my projects today feature products from Ink To Paper/ Papertrey Ink.
GRATEFUL ACORN CARD
I love acorns – they’re one of my favorite symbols of fall (although I love everything fall related). I used the In Stitches: Acorn Die Set to create a large acorn that works as a focal point for this card.
The acorn cap I made in plaid by stamping with the Nifty Plaid Stamp using red and yellow ink onto a light yellow cardstock.
The sentiment I die cut using a die from the Border Bling: Grateful Vines Die Set. For leaves I used the Sweet Celebration Die Set. This die set as you guess from it’s name this set is not a all a fall one. But you can totally stretch products from other seasons and themes into fall by using appropriate colors 🙂 As here I used red and orange cardstock for leaf die cuts.
I used dark blue card base and a light yellow cardstock for the front panel. Which I also scored to add some interest and tore the bottom edge.
To accentuate a card I added several enamel dots (they’re the must in my fall cardmaking stash) and added a red twine bow to the acorn cap.
EASY ALMOST CHALKBOARD LOOK
My next card features one of my favorite style – chalkboard. This one is actually not 100%y chalkboard, as I wasn’t adding any “chalk” look. But it definitely looks a bit chalkboardy.
I used the Framing Fall Stamp Set to white emboss the fall borders onto a black cardstock and then they were die cut using the matching dies. After that I popped them up onto a black panel using black adhesive foam squares.
Then the panel was foam mounted onto a white card base.
For the sentiment I used a white die cut made using a die from the Border Bling: Grateful Vines Die Set.
FAUX CHALKBOARD POSTAGE STAMP
If the previous card had almost chalkboard look the next one can totally qualify for a real chalkboard. Well faux real chalkboard, as no chalk was harmed during making this card.
Here I used the Hello Pumpkin Stamp Set to stamp the pumpkin scene onto a white panel. I used masking paper to mask off overlapping elements.
After that I draw a rectangle around using a black marker and colored the area inside with a black marker as well. After that I smudged white ink all over it to create the chalkboard look.
Next I stamped the sentiment from the same set in the top part of the panel.
To create the postage stamp frame I used the Border Bling: Skinny Postage Frames Die Set.
BOLD BIRD CARD
Me next card is on a bolder side. It’s not a surprise that I like bold cards for any season. And when it comes to fall brown is one of color staples for me.
I used the Border Bling: Grateful Vines Die Set to die cut the front panel leaving all die cuts elements inside which created kinda embossed look. Additionally I die cut several veins out of red, range and light yellow cardstock using the same die.
To create the bird I used the Feathered Friends 3 Die Set. It’s a layered die set that creates a cool and cute die cut bird.
The sentiment from the Framing Fall Sentiments Stamp Set I heat embossed in yellow onto a brown cardstock, die cut using the matching die and popped up onto the card using black adhesive foam squares. To finish off the card I added several enamel dots.
PUMPKIN PLACE CARD
The last (but definitely not least) project I want to share today is a holiday table place card.
I used the In Stitches: Pumpkin Die Set to create the pumpkin. I die cut the elements out of orange, brown and moss green cardstock, blended distress inks around the edges and sprinkled with water to add texture.
Then I stitched all pieces together using a hemp twine.
I used the Take Your Place Kit Stamp And Die Set to make the chalkboard label. I did the chalkboard look as usual – by white embossing on black cardstock and then smudging a white ink on top.
It was a very fun project and I believe it would add an interesting touch to a Thanksgiving table.
So here are the projects I wanted to share today. Probably tomorrow I will share a couple more of fall ones before totally switching to Christmas.
