Simon Says Stamp | Two Valentine Cards Featuring Stamped Background

Hi friends!

Hope you’re enjoying this most wonderful time of the year to the most. Did you made and send holiday cards? Wrapped the presents? I still have several presents to wrap. Will be doing it tonight probably, watching the cheesiest Christmas movie.

As far as cardmaking goes this time is usually when you start seeing Valentine cards all over your social media. I also came today to show you two Valentine cards featuring a stamp set from the recent Simon Says Stamp Release – Love You More.

The stamp set I’m featuring is Love And Valentines Word Mix 2.

There is a matching die set for this stamp set that cuts all stamped sentiment at once (so you get many sentiments at once). For my cards I used this set differently by stamping a background using it.

DISTRESS OXIDES OMBRÉ BACKGROUND

For my first card I first blended Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide Ink onto a white panel in an ombré manner. With more intense blending towards the bottom and almost no blending towards the top.

Then I die cut a stitched rectangle out of the panel.

Next I white embossed the background onto it. I was stamping one stamp from the set diagonally several times until I filled the whole panel. There was a big gap between the Happy Valentine’s Day in the center and the elements to the left. I stamped the word LOVE in that gap.

After that I added water splatters using my Distress Sprayer, blotted them and then foam mounted the panel onto a white card base.

Lastly I added several Snow Crystals.

This card doesn’t have a sentiment per se. The whole stamped background on one hand consists of sentiments. On the other hand it consider the background as just a background – there are no “dedicated” sentiment.

Well the “trick” here is the positioning of stamping. I planned the stamping location such way that Happy Valentine’s Day is located in the center and this one is meant as a main sentiment.

ONE LAYER CARD

For my second card I choose a similar approach by white embossing the stamp diagonally. In this case I was embossing onto a red card base, making a one layer card.

I mentioned above in my first card description that I planned how to place stamping to have a particular stamp in the center.

Here I didn’t really care as all white embossing is meant to be just a background.

For the sentiment I stamped a circle one using another stamp from the set using a pink ink. Then I die cut it using a circle die. I also die cut a bigger circle out of a vellum and adhered the sentiment one onto it.

Followed by popping them onto the card.

I made a small hole on the edge of the card base to pass the twine into it and wrap the twine around just the front flap of the card base.
