Simon Says Stamp | Fall Cards Featuring Two Background Techniques

I’m excited to share two cards made using the new Leaves and Berries Background Stamp.

I love working with background stamps, I feel like there are dozens techniques that can be applied to one stamp. In today’s post I’m sharing just a couple of them.

CHALKBOARD

Needless to say that I love chalkboard and use every opportunity to make a chalkboard card. With background stamps it’s so easy.

For my card I used a black cardstock panel on which I white embossed the background in question. Then I colored leaves with white pencil followed by coloring with an orange one. I did the white underneath so the range is more visible (so to speak) on a black cardstock. I used Faber-Castell Polychromos Pencils.

After that I rubbed the panel with a paper towel inked with a white pigment ink and foam mounted it onto a white card base.

To finish off the card I popped up a sentiment, stamped in orange on white and fussy cut with scissors.

BLEACHED WITH WATER DISTRESS OXIDE BACKGROUND

For my next card I decided to play with Distress Oxide Inks. Your own blended backgrounds is that thing that will never get old.

First I white embossed the background onto a watercolor panel. Then I blended Candied Apple, Spiced Marmalade and Twisted Citron Distress Oxides onto the panel. After that I “bleached” the leaves in the design by adding water with a small brush and blotting it with a paper towel.

Next, to add interest to the background I added splatters of clear water and gold metallic spray. Then I foam mounted the panel onto a white card base.

I made a die-cut of the white cardstock using the Eucalyptus Leaves Die Set, added splatters of gold spray to them and adhered them onto the card. Next I popped up the sentiment, white embossed on an orange cardstock and fussy cut with my scissors.

Lastly I added several clear droplets.
