This month Spellbinders Small Die Of The Month – Kaleidoscope Trio is a lot of fun. It includes dies to make a layered kaleidoscope designs of three shapes.
I made two cards using this set inspired by Aladdin movie I saw the other day.
When I say “inspired” it’s not exactly true. I wasn’t thinking of the movie when was making cards. But now when I look at them they remind me Jasmine dress or Sultan’s palace props.
For my first card I made die-cuts of the triangle shape out of teal, yellow, brown and white cardstock. Initially I planned another design so I made 12 die-cuts of each (48 in total). It was hella die-cutting I should tell you haha. Luckily I like die-cutting. As we all do, since we’re in this hobby 🙂
With that being said I should tell that since the die-cuts had many small details Spellbinders Tool N One really helped me to remove all small paper pieces from the die-cuts and dies.
After the die-cutting I stacked the die-cuts to make 7 layered pieces. Which I adhered onto a light teal card base.
To finish off the card I popped a sentiment white embossed on black and cut out with scissors.
For my next card I used the die-cuts left after the first card. This time I did minimal and no layering. You can mix and match different die-cuts to get different results.
I made a card base out of a bit darker teal cardstock and blended Distress Peacock Feathers onto the front part of it.
Then I sprayed it with some water using the Distress Sprayer and blotted with a paper towel.
I adhered the die-cut pieces onto the card and popped the sentiment to finish it off.
