Papertrey Ink | Bird Themed Holiday Cards

Hello friends!

Welp, 2020 is definitely the year when I’m failing in blogging epically. I have SO MANY Christmas cards that I made this year and never shared. So frantically trying to do so now before it’s too late. I even wanted to wait several months till like August when it’s again appropriate to share them, but decided to push through now. I myself often find myself continuing making Christmas cards even in February.  I belong to one of those people who has hard time letting it go.

Without further ado let’s start. Today I’m sharing a bunch of bird themed cards made using Ink To Paper / Papertrey Ink products.

WINTER BULLFINCH

This one is probably my favorite holiday/winter card I made this year. I love the night scene, adorable chunky bullfinch birdie and fir branches framing it.

I used the Feathered Friends Mini 4 Stamp Set to stamp the bullfinch, which then was die cut using the matching die.

To make the moon I die cut a circle out of a masking paper, applied it onto a white cardstock and inked over with blue distress inks. Then I removed the mask and added water and white spray splatters.

On The Border: Fir Branches Die Set was used to make the dark blue frame die cut. For the loose branches I used a stamp and die from the Tree Essentials Stamp and Die Sets.

KRAFT SNOWFLAKES DIE CUT CARD

I like good snowflake die set, in fact you may not have enough snowflake dies.

I used the Starflakes Die Set to make the background. The snowflakes were die cut out of a kraft cardstock and adhered onto a kraft panel. After that I added white splatters.

The birdie is made using the Feathered Friends 4 Die Set.

A red twine and sentiment finished off the card.

STITCHED NOEL

If you’re a fan of stitched projects Papertrey Ink should be among your shopping stops. They have a lot of awesome dies meant for stitched projects. Often they’re larger and meant not just for cards. Which doesn’t mean that you cannot use those for a card as well.

For my card I used the In Stitches: Banner Die Set to create the front panel of my card, which I die cut out of a Rustic Cream Cardstock. Then I die cut NOEL piecing holes in the panel using the dies from the In Stitches: Noel Die Set. I overlapped the letters to make them fit into the banner and it worked beautifully.

Then I stitched all “switchable” elements using green and red bakers twine.

Lastly I added some pine branches and birds from the Joyous Holiday Stamp Set and foam mounted the banner panel onto a red card base.

CARDINAL SLIMLINE CARD

My next card features cute cardinals from the Feathered Friends Mini 6 Stamp Set. I wanted to place more cardinals onto a card and couldn’t think of how to do this. When I realized that there is such thing as slimline cards. And that’s how my first slimline card was made. Before that when literally everyone would make such cards I was intimidated by the size. Which actually works very well for designs where A2 card is not working.

I blended gradually distress oxide inks onto a white panel and added water splatters. Then I stamped and die cut veins, berries and leaves using the Corner It: Holly Stamp Set and the set of matching dies.

All stamped elements (along with the birds) were adhered onto the panel. Some of them I popped up for additional interest.

I used a Believe die from the Border Bling: Believe Die Set which I die cut out of a red cardstock and popped up onto the panel. Which in turn was adhered onto a white card base.

FESTIVE BACKGROUND

For my next card I used the same Feathered Friends Mini 6 Stamp Set to stamp the cardinal.

The background is made by white embossing the Holiday Spirit Stamp Set onto a red panel.

I also die cut a vellum panel using the Love To Layer: Notched Die Set and Tree Essentials Stamp and Die Sets were using to make the branches.

I adhered all elements onto the panel which then I wrapped with a red bakers twine at the top and tied a bow.

Lastly I foam mounted the panel onto a white card base and popped up a sentiment strip onto the card to finish it off.

SIMPLE CARDINAL SCENE

My last card for today is the simplest one. Here again I used the Feathered Friends Mini 6 Stamp Set to make the bird.

The red panel is made using the Border Bling: Believe Die Set. The branches are stamped using the Tree Essentials Stamp Set and die cut using the matching dies. I also stamped several branches onto a white rectangle using green inks of different shades.

Same the sentiment was stamped onto the white rectangle in black.

Several white sequins were added at the end to accentuate the card.
