Ink To Paper | Halloween Pumpkin Patch

Hello friends!

Today I want to share another Halloween card with you made several months ago. When it was actually the right time to make and share such cards lol. But I already explained a bit yesterday why I suck in blogging recently. Every day (today including) I promise myself to close all work tabs and apps as a work day ends and look at me – it’s 7:57 am and I just finished working and sat to write the blog post. Which I ended up finishing the next day lol.

Anyways, today I’m sharing card featuring spooky pumpkin patch night scene. Here we have a lot of masking involved. As much as like technique where you can cheat and create a look like it was masking involved (but it wasn’t) I like and not afraid of real masking as well.

I used the Hello Pumpkin Stamp Set to stamp the scene. First I made several masks out of a masking paper for the pumpkins and leaves. Then I stamping the pumpkin patch scene onto a white cardstock panel.

When you stamp a scene using masking you first need to stamp an element(s) that are visually located “in front”, mask it (them) off and then stamp the one located right “behind” it and continue in such matter all the way to the very “back”.

So in my case the order of stamping was the following (after stamping of each element I applied a mask onto it before proceeding to the next one):

  • middle pumpkin
  • pumpkin on the left + pumpkin on the right
  • leaves located “above” the pumpkins
  • leaf in the middle at the very right
  • leaves located “below” the pumpkins

Next, leaving all stamped elements masked, I die cut a large circle mask out of a masking paper and applied it above the pumpkins. After that I inked the panel with a dark blue ink on the top and brown on the bottom (I used Distress Inks in this case). Then I added water splatters to introduce more interest to the background. Followed by adding a white spray splatters.

Next I removed the circle mask and masked the area around the circle by apply it’s negative mask. After which I inked inside of the circle with a yellow ink.

Lastly I removed all masks, stamped the sentiment inside of the moon and foam mounted the panel onto a white card base.
