Simon Says Stamp | Modern Floral Pattern Background

Hi friends!

A new Simon Says Stamp Crafty Hugs release went live today and as usual – it’s awesome!

I want to share a card featuring the So Beautiful Stamp Set from the new release. It’s a cling stamp featuring large flower field. Perfect for all types of coloring, heat embossing and other techniques. I made a bold card featuring simple block coloring as well as negative coloring with COPIC markers.

I started by stamping the background using blue ink in the bottom half of a Icy Mint panel. White cardstock would work here as well, I was simply using the color of the cardstock as one of the colors existing in the card. After that I colored the flower parts using COPIC markers of two blue shades. Leaving some elements not colored, as I mentioned – the cardstock color was working instead.

I did absolutely no blending here – just colored completely each element with one or another marker. I don’t know if there is a proper term for that type of coloring, I named it – “block coloring” as I kinda colored “blocks” of the image.

Next I performed negative coloring, by filling in the background around flowers with a dark blue marker. Here in the top part of the image (i.e. somewhere in the middle of the card) I only traced the flowers with the marker, I didn’t color all the way from them. As I needed not colored cardstock to to the top part of the background.

When I was stamping the image before coloring I was using my MISTI stamping tool and I left it in MISTI when took the panel for coloring. After I finished coloring of this part I placed the panel back into the MISTI, stamped the same image using clear embossing ink, poured light green embossing powder and heat set it.

Then I did absolutely he same in the top half of the panel. Resulting with the whole panel filled with colored flowers with embossed outlines on a dark blue background.

Next I foam mounted the panel onto a white card base. Lastly I stamped a sentiment onto a white cardstock, fussy cut it using my scissors and popped up onto the card.
